I'm currently reading "The Pilo Family Circus," by Will Elliott.

Very wonderful nastiness and much horribleness.

And who can't resist the nasty smile of a clown with rotted teeth and a grin that stretches from ear to ear (literally)?

--- Think about THAT the next time you take the kiddies to see some clown - you clown, you!

Just started The Last Sherlock Holmes Story by Michael Dibdin (he of Inspector Aurelio Zen fame) which was his first novel. At 14% I am really enjoying it and like the style. It is based on a manuscript supposedly only revealed 50 years after Watson's death, and deals with Holmes's investigation into Jack the Ripper.

I just started Sand by Hugh Howey. I borrowed it through Kindle Prime and just now realized that you can only read borrowed books on an actual Kindle. I tried to send it to my android phone and the option is greyed out. So I'll have to remember to bring my kindle everywhere until the book is done, haha.

Just started The Templar Legacy by Steve Berry. I like this kind of thing by writers like Scott Mariani, so hopefully this will be a success.

Alf is NOT intended for use in removing time-limiting DRM on books you've borrowed. That's just stealing .

And done. I'm not really sure how I feel about that book. There was a lot to appreciate about it, but in the end, I didn't feel entirely satisfied with what I was given.

Also, I think I'm at a period in my life where I crave more excitement than introspection in my leisure reading.

I agree, and I wasn't suggesting changing time limits. There are no time limits involved here. There's no time limit on Kindle Prime borrowed books, only a device restriction of what kind of device is allowed. You borrow until you're done, and when you return it, you can borrow another. I view DRM removal to allow one to read it on K4PC, for example, as not stealing. BUT that applies only if one returns it and removes it from Calibre and/or the devices it's on. I agree - using Alf to bypass the time limits is beyond the remit of what the tools are for.

Now for something completely different: The Unfinished Clue by Georgette Heyer.
I did not know, until the English Mysteries group at Goodreads chose a Heyer novel, that Georgette Heyer wrote mysteries. I'd long ago read most of her Regency novels. I don't think they were available at my bookstores back in my early 20s.

Currently reading Twelve Drummers Drumming by C C Benison and listening to Loyalty in Death by JD Robb. OH, and listening to A Christmas Carol read by Tim Curry in the morning with my coffee (my short story/novella goal).

Heyer, Sayers and Allingham mysteries are always a delight.

Eh, the book is only 250 pages and I will be sitting at Hyundai waiting for a brake job tomorrow so I shouldn't need it on any other device in this case.

I've just finished 'Fall of the Governor' by Robert Kirkman. It's the third Walking Dead novel. It was shallow and a bit unnecessarily gruesome but fun. The first in the series is my favourite.
I have just begun 'patient zero' by Jonathan Mayberry. So far so good; basically a Jack Reacher zombie story......nice.
