Interesting. I actually have this tablet (got it on sale at Amazon for $120) but I haven't really gotten around to putting it through its paces. Compared to the Nexus 7.2 (which I bought around the same time) and the Ainol Novo7 Venus, it's a fair bit chunkier and since I have small hands, it makes holding the device one-handed a bit trickier.

Walmart sells a 7 inch tablet made by Hisense that has some nice specs for $149.99. The screen isn't bad and better than most e-ink screens (although there are a lot of tablets with better screens). The thing with tablets is that you almost always get what you pay for. My BIL has a low-end Chinese tablet and the pixel density wasn't good. Text wasn't nearly as crisp as it is on my Nexus 7. So I think that is something to consider if you're going to use the tablet for reading,

I paid the equivalent of over $1000 for my iPad Mini. It very definitely is the case that you get what you pay for.

While I agree you get what you pay for some of us just cannot pay that much money for a pc much less a tablet. And at least for me and my wife we are already tied to android apps and cannot just go out and get the same apps for apple products too. And as for me I will not have apple in my home. Not that they are not good products, I just do not like most of the people that own them.

At least in my area there are people that will take food out of their kids mouths just to be able to have the latest iphone or ipad, and that is when they already have ever other iphone or ipad ever made. I do not know what else to say other than that type. I have to hold on to, and keep what ever I get until is completely stops working. So yes there are the ones that have to have the latest and greatest and the ones that have to make due with what they have or what they can get.

Harry I am not saying its your fault that I do not care for Apple products, there are just some bad apple lovers out there that cause some of us to have a bad taste in our mouths. And if I did not already have my investment in adroid devices and apps I would have gotten an apple mini, more than likely I would had to of gotten an older model.
But I have to say I do love my Nexus 7 2013 a lot. |

The Nexus 7 is an excellent tablet, I completely agree. The only reason I prefer the iPad Mini to it is that I find the 4:3 aspect ratio of the iPad more agreeable to read on than the 16:10 of the Nexus. Purely a personal preference.

I have played with the IPad with the new screen and all I have to say is wow. But I find the screen on the Nexus to be very good also for what I do.

I believe the two screens are very similar in terms of their "dots per inch" resolution. I've had a play with the latest Nexus 7 and its screen seemed excellent.
