Fictionwise's last hurrah: Buywise club refund
Did you have an account with Fictionwise? Did you have membership in their "buywise club"?

If the answer to both is "yes", check your email for an email from "support@penchecks.com" with subject line "PenChecks Participant Distribution Notification".

It contains information and a PIN to get a refund from Pencheck for your unused Fictionwise membership. I had forgotten that this was due and very pleasantly surprised to get this email today.

Barnes & Nobles are using penchecks to distribute cheques with pro-rata refunds of the buywise club membership fees.

I am Dutch, my Fictionwise account is registered with US address to circumvent geo-restrictions.

I didn't notice any other options but when I went through the process there was a choice to change your address. My default info was all correct so I don't know what would happen if you selected this. They did require a phone number.

Fictionwise's last hurrah.
I had taken advantage of several offers at Fictionwise and had five years or so of membership left, so my cheque is said to be about $140.

Let's hope it all goes smoothly. I don't know if this offer applies to people outside the US (they has a US address for me for some reason, which I corrected to my UK address), but I hope it does.

Of course, cashing a $ cheque in the UK is quite expensive, but it will still be a very welcome addition to my book buying budget.

Got mine, which is nice - I wasn't expecting this.

I am expecting a refund of the Micropay balance, like Fictionwise's site is still promising, but I haven't received yet.

I had been "bugging" BN for the last two year via email about this program and if you hadn't posted this notice with the suggestion to look in my spam folder, I would have totally missed out on $78.05. Being on a fixed income that is a lot of money to me.

I'll take what I can get but I sure was expecting a lot more of a refund based on how many years I still had left (about eight as near as I can tell). But thanks again for this post. Christmas came late this year...
