Pretty proud of myself this year so far. Only bought 3 books for a total of $6.97, and have already read 2 of the ones I bought and am currently reading the third, so no addition to the TBR.

I don't bother "travelling" like that. Besides being probably illegal, it seems like too much trouble just to spend money.

Thanks for the heads-up on Pale Demon; I've been waiting for that to go on sale! Now if A Perfect Blood ever drops, my ebook collection of the series will be complete! (Well, aside from the new entry that's due a month from now, but that's on my Must Read list anyway.)

I've found the series well worth it, and the offshoot books (The Hollows Insider and the prequel graphic novels) are also worth a look.

I doubt it's illegal, although it very likely is against shop terms and conditions and may lead to account suspension.

It's worth the risk for me, as we don't exactly earn Western salaries in Eastern Europe and (generally) never, ever get any sales; instead, Amazon kindly adds their $2 surcharge to most book prices in addition (and then we get to pay extra VAT on not just the book but also the surcharge). I don't think I could afford more than four books a month like that, with every e-book easily costing over $10-12, often $15-18.

Augh! Now I find that one publisher has set lots and lots of Mystery/Crime books at £0.84 in the UK Kindle store. Including books by Jonathan Gash (Lovejoy novels) and Elizabeth Peters (Amelia Peabody novels). I'm doomed!

I have to own up. I've now spent $52.91 in January on ebooks. But I think I can resist any more spending this month. Perhaps, since I'm not buying the March Baen Bundle, I'll be back on track by the end of February.

I need to be more ruthless!

I see a lot of people in this thread that state to do X, then don't do it, and then just say: "Ah well."

That way, you'll never break your addiction

I've only bought 3 Delphi Classics this month, and they even were on offer. A lot of reading for $4.5...

You're right. I was seduced by the low price of an interesting looking series, but I should not have bought them.

The three Lovejoy books, however, were legitimate, and even thought they would have put me $0.31 over my limit, I think I'd accept that. It's the $12.60 on ten books from a new author that are a problem.

Sigh....

These are weasel words. Good ones, but still weasel-ly. I think it's GREAT when you can buy all of an entire series for $.99-1.99 instead of the usual $4-8. Congratulations!!

Today, I had to add a book to my TBR because I had to buy it for someone else. yeah, well, that's what happens when you are the keeper of the elibrary.

I'm actually planning on stopping my Audible membership sometime this year. I will at least be putting a hold on it when my next credit comes due (I've already paid for the month).

Very weasel-ly. I've recanted. I've admitted my failure. I resolve to do better in February, and get back on track with a joint Jan/Feb total of $80 or less, and not a cent more.

No kidding; I've got three must-reads all coming out on February 25th. Makes my wallet hurt just thinking about it.

I'm safe from that. I don't buy books that "look good"; I only buy books from authors I have already read something from, or authors I intend to read for some reason.

You *read* more books a year than I'd be able to *find* to actually read... I can't find a book to read every other day. Even if I could, I don't have the time/am not fast enough to read a 400 page book in two days.

It does keep the spending down, except when Kobo pulls out a 70%+ coupon. SPREE!

I've already found the loophole in that plan. I bought book one, read it, liked it, scooped up the rest of the series...and it promptly gathers dust in my TBR stack.
