How do you know it's a winner? How big a market do you think there is for a $1000+ monochrome device?

But I won't be suprised if its wide-spread release is also postponed till august like Pocketbook CAD's. Besides, it is questionable if they can get enough screens at this moment, since Plastic Logic's flexible screens will also, most probably, not be around in greater quantities in e-readers this year. http://www.plasticlogic.com Last edited by markom; 01-16-2014 at 01:42 PM. |

I'm still hoping these chaps come to the party for me and let me purchase one of their controller cards and then a 13.3" eInk display... I'll be set then!

Really have to come up with something. Very frustrating having a solution "so close" yet so far for dealing with my wife's vision issues

The design is already done, the $5k was for a production run. If I had the money I'd have paid that to them outright just to get my hands on it. |

	1. Excellent design 2. Very nice UI - judged from the video reviews 3. The first e-reader where a 'busy' A4 page (as in double column scientific articles) can comfortably be read 4. Touch screen + Stylus use Quote:

![]() ![]() ![]() Of course my argument would be easier to defend if they did sell it at a lower price point. |

There were far fewer people interested in a 9.7" reader than there were interested in a 6" reader. |

It's true, but the 9.7" was always a bit of an odd size, as it was still not big enough for people wanting to read A4/Letter documents, and it doesn't offer enough of a gain over the 6~7" display for novel readers. In effect it niched itself between the mainstream and the 1:1/100% reader niche.

Sony defines the device as "digital paper" not a Reader. The idea is truly to make it a digital notebook. If I worked as a proof reader for a publishing house (or freelance) this would be my device of choice. Get the manuscript as a PDF and attack it in the same manner you would a paper manuscript.

Exactly, for a novel reader, they are. For people wanting to read schematics and datasheets ( my own business uses for electronics engineering ), and for wanting to create an eInk display for wordprocessing ( for my wife ), the 13.3" is where it starts.

I too want an e-ink display for wordprocessing, but the Sony doesn't support external input outside the included stylus.
