I had a long discussion last month with one of the Chinese students visiting me. Her mother is a nurse in Wuhan, and indeed she said antibiotic resistance is a problem there. However, in spite of drugs being so available, she is a strong believer in Eastern medicine and is very reluctant to take anything, even aspirin or Tylenol. Her viewpoint is pretty insightful, I think. She said that Western doctors are good at treating diagnosed diseases, but just because you don't have a disease doesn't mean that you are well. Eastern medicine helps make you well. Pretty smart, my friend is.

Feng Huang Dan Cong, a Chinese Oolong from the Guangdong province. Distinctive flavour reminiscent of "longan" fruit. Quite "peachy". An excellent Oolong.

Good morning, everyone. It's so nice to be back home and be able to see the sun rise again. After almost a week of just sun sets, I was really starting to miss it!

And even better to have a genuine POT of good tea to drink. Although I brought my own tea with me, the resort didn't have any large teapots! I had to brew a cup at a time. Too much work when on vacation! (I think I'm spoiled!)

No, medicines here are cheaper than dirt. A full 10-day course of 500mg Amoxicillin cost less than a single ordinary Thai meal if bought at a local pharmacy. Fact is, Thai medicines are quality-controlled to the same standards as US drugs, and many western pharmaceutical companies have their production facilities here and in Malaysia, India, and Sri Lanka. LOL! I have a feeling that if many Americans knew that their meds were being made in Third World countries they would never get well just because of the reverse placebo effect!

One more cup of tea, the it's off to start my day! Gonna go looking at a new motor scooter today... I liked the one we rented on Koh Chang. Much more comfortable and lots of power to get up the steep, steep hills. (Some of those hills on the island I'd be afraid to ski down!)

I have serious water consumption issues also as I had trained myself long ago as a high desert and mountain backpacker to deny my thirst. as a result I am ALWAYS pushing at least sparkling water. also I am on high doses of painkillers and the docs are always worried about liver function so I keep them as flushed as possible. if my urine is ever darker than a bad american pils, time for more water!

So the LM had hot and sour soup, white bean chicken chili, toast, and milk for dinner but was still hungry. He is working on yogurt now.
