Went out to a couple stores, don't remember doing anything different or unusual ... but, somehow, I managed to pull something in my back. I'm hoping it doesn't get any worse, but sometimes it does get worse overnight. I know there's never a good time for this, but this week is an especially bad time to get sidelined by my back.

Oral surgery last week led to a two word rant this week:

Dry socket.

oh boy, *pat pat* I've never had it even though I was a committed smoker through some surgeries and knew I was dancing a dangerous dance. hope you feel better soon! (and never ever turn down pain drugs even if you don't think you need them NOW!)

I had the surgery eight days ago and went back yesterday. The doctor packed it with some kind of medicated shoestring and gave me some antibiotics and some more pain medicine. Packing the string of gauze into the socket hurt like blazes, but whatever was on the gauze eventually took the pain away. Until yesterday I was taking pain medication every four hours. I quickly ran out of the meds given me and resorted to taking all the pain medication I'd saved over the years for just such emergencies. Usually, when the dentist gives me something for pain, I take one or two for when the pain is at its peak and save the rest for when they might be really needed. I had some going back to 2009. Actually, I had more than that, but evidently certain relatives who can't tell pain meds from Hershey Kisses discovered three of the bottles I had hidden in the freezer, as all three were empty.

Don't know what you're seeing from Big Media, but we're in Bangkok right now and it's almost biz as usual. Airport access was shut down but I had made contingency plans for that. Waiting for the train right now, with a sleeper birth reserved. No problem.

Oh, boy. Been there, done that. It's NOT FUN. Don't know what they're doing these days, but when I had it, whatever they stuffed it with tasted strongly of cloves. Which put me off the spice for the rest of my life! But it was seriously painful.

Well, in the US they're likely not saying anything at all, in Canada they're talking about it, but it's really hard to tell what's really happening. And, of course, the BBC is covering it quite a bit. It looks like some areas are a serious problem, others less so.

(I know it's a different thread, but how did the match go?)

I told the surgeon, "That hurts like Hell!" And it did. You're right about the taste. It's a taste so pungent others can smell on you (my wife noticed it when I picked her up in the car). He repacked it today, and it hurt like the outskirts of Hell, but only for a moment. Things are looking up.

Sometimes I wish I didn't have a tongue. I was talking to an acquaintance/neighbor walking her dog. We have talked numerous occasions and her husband works with my mother's cousin.

Anyway, I was out there because I was trying to catch another neighbor's dog and we were talking about how dangerous it is for animals who get out. I told her the story of how 10-yrs-old was a bad year for me because "my little life was undone twice" when my mother married her second husband and my grandmother married as well and how my grandmother's dog (really my dog) ended up with my aunt and, in fairly short order, ended up getting out and getting run over.

I'm feeling horrible because I didn't want to put my mother in a bad light. I just meant the new stepparent and a move were difficult and so was losing the dog.
