Yes, that's it. The OED says he was "said to have used this style of coat following the amputation of his arm after the Battle of Waterloo." Perhaps this style of sleeve was more comfortable, or simply sat better, than a set-in sleeve.

These people all have something named after them. But (just to make it more of a challenge) each of them is better known by another title or surname, and (with one exception) it's the more familiar form that has lent itself to the item.

One point for each correct item, and bonus points for an explanation of why it was named after that person and/or cool details.

1. Harald I of Denmark (c910–985) - Bluetooth. Harald was nicknamed "Bluetooth". He brought various Scandinavian territories together. Bilbo, 1 point; Kumabjorn 1 point.
2. Alice Roosevelt Longworth (1884–1980) - Alice blue, a colour chosen and made fashionable by Alice Roosevelt. Bookpossum, 2 points.
3. James Thomas Brudenell (1797-1868) - Cardigan. The OED simply states that the cardigan (at that time a knitted wool waistcoat) was named for the Earl of Cardigan, "distinguished in the Crimean war". Bilbo, 2 points.
4. Jeanne Antoinette Poisson (1721-1764) - the Pompadour hairstyle associated with Madame de Pompadour. Poohbear, 2 points.
5. FitzRoy James Henry Somerset (1788–1855) - the Raglan sleeve. Lord Raglan is said to have used this style of coat following the amputation of his arm after the Battle of Waterloo. Bilbo, 1 point; Orlok, 1 point

Bilbo, 4 points
Bookpossum, Poohbear, 2 points
Kumabjorn, Orlok 1 point each

I'd hazard a guess that most of us see an example of Alice's namesake item quite frequently!

A rather large clue:

"In my sweet little F0F8FF gown..."

Alice blue

Aha! That's where it comes from. I think it is a quite pale blue shade.

ETA: I'm guessing it was a colour she wore frequently enough for it to be named for her?

Hurrah, Bookpossum! I expect you know what raglan sleeves are, too.

Close enough for this stage of things.

Alice blue is a pale blue named for the oldest daughter (the only child of his first marriage) of President Theodore Roosevelt. She apparently selected it when presented with some new fabric colours, and it was named in her honour. The OED says she wore it at her father's inauguration ball in 1905.

The song "Alice Blue Gown" was written for the musical Irene, which opened in 1919, later had a couple of film versions, and was revived in the 1970s.

#F0F8FF is the hex code for the HTML colour called Alice blue.

Final results:
Bilbo, 4 points
Bookpossum, Poohbear, 2 points each
Kumabjorn, Orlok 1 point each

Thanks for playing, everyone - this quiz turned out to be nicely challenging!

Bilbo is hereby declared winner and quizmaster.

Oh, I didn't realise you were looking for the raglan sleeve as well. I know it from knitted jumpers: instead of having an armhole at the edge of the shoulder, the join is at an angle so that the top of the sleeve goes up onto the shoulder and the join is on a slant so the bottom of the join is some way down the arm. Actually rather hard to describe, but I know what I mean even if no-one else does!

Great quiz Shayne!

A fine description! But no, I wasn't looking for further details - I was just having a small smile at myself over the fact that I'd wrongly assumed raglan sleeves would be more widely known. I remember my mother showing me how to knit them when I could barely wield the knitting pins!

A quick quiz about books. All of the below are noteworthy for some reason. Please name the reason (it's a different reason in every case).

1. Something to Answer For by P. H. Newby
2. Not A Wake by Mike Keith
3. Codex Leicester by Leonardo da Vinci
4. A Void by Georges Perec
5. Table Alphabeticall by Robert Cowdrey

It could indeed!

Bonus for anybody who can guess (or know) the price (in dollars, within 5%) and who bought it.
