I would like to see more formating options (line spacing, margins, font size, ...).

Being able to have "instant" translation via on board dictionaries without using wifi. My understanding may be faulty, but doesn't the PW1 have the ability to select on the fly which dictionary you use? I often read books in English that have just a few words or phrases in French, Spanish, or Latin, and it's a nuisance to have to turn wifi on for these when I may already have a perfectly serviceable dictionary in that language right on the device. I don't want to reset my language in preferences as I still need to be able to look things up in English too.

I also find the PW2 just a bit sluggish at times, so I'd be in favor of a faster processor. And still more font options. |

The design and features of the Kindle Touch (4gb, audio), with the Kobo's margin, font, line spacing options, and ability to manage collections via Calibre. A good light, optional.

Hmmm, I have a hard time thinking of something. I basically "upgraded" by going from a PW1 to the basic kindle as its all about readability for me and I just didn't like the window or milk effect with the extra layers. So I had to give up some "features" for that, but I don't really miss them.

Maybe a couple of more fonts would be nice and a small solar panel on the back of the basic kindle so I don't even have to plug it in for charging anymore. . Since I read a lot, none of the kindles I have ever owned come even close to the advertised time and I only get a couple of days or a few days out of them. The basic so far is longest, with charging maybe every 3-4 days or so. So a solar panel would be nice. Of course I have no clue about the technical thingies about if it would be even large enough to charge a battery the size in the kindle. And maybe some help with online my kindle account. It would be nice to be able to have the sorting done there and then sync with the kindles if one wishes. With maybe each kindle on the account having their own sync section to do that. |

A 3G Kindle has Wikipedia access anywhere Amazon's 3G data is available -- or is that also not available outside the US?

Speed (responsiveness) and screen contrast are probably my top desires for improvement. It isn't as if I dislike my PW now but those are what will get me to upgrade. I find battery life and lighting uniformity acceptable.

There are other important improvements that don't drive my behavior but affect the E-ink market, IMO. I think improving screen durability (flexible screen) would be a big step forward in making e-readers more widely used. An easily replaced battery might be a related benefit, giving E-ink e-readers a wider appeal. When we buy a new reader after two to four years we might more usefully pass ours on to someone else (with an unbroken screen and a fresh battery). |

I was using a PW2 while giving blood the other day...I really would have liked to have a hardware page-turn button. Having to set the reader down to tap the screen to turn the page was annoying.

I believe it's available worldwide but sadly this is the 4th ereader I now have in the house and I couldn't justify buying the 3G version but, yes, that would certainly be the simple solution.

Ah yes, I should definitely have added: the hardware page-turn buttons of the Kindle Keyboard. Those are great for me. And book cover as sleep screen. And an unobtrusive bottom-of-screen whole-of-book progress bar with user-optional chapter pips.
