Today's the first day this year that I haven't finished a book. Feels weird.

Two in process though: Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet (Darynda Jones) on Kindle, Unnatural Acts (Kevin J. Anderson) on Audible. I'm in the mood for neither, so I'll probably end up reading a cozy tonight.

I got that nice GreaseMonkey script, so while I'm glad they've listened to the readers and done improvements, I'm keeping the script for now. It still gives me more information.

Also, I'm currently on track with both my main challenge as well as all sub-challenges. Excellent. Now to keep this up for the entire year...

Mine only has it in the sidebar, not in the big bar on the challenge page. Strange.

I finished two books: Tomb of the Ten Thousand Dead by L. Ron Hubbard and Venus in Copper by Lindsey Davis.

Now I'm reading The Gunslinger and The Hidden Reality: Parallel Universes and the Deep Laws of the Cosmos. It's an interesting coincidence that I got to read these two at the same time

I did enjoy reading the Falco books some years ago. Now if they came up as a special offer, I don't think I could resist.

Mine says I'm four books ahead of schedule. Lol. Just because I read four books that totalled 617 pages does not mean I am way ahead of schedule. I'm really only about 4 days ahead on my reading pace which always starts fast and then trails off. I think I am where I need to be on my reading challenge, even including the extra book that got thrown on the pile.

I just abandoned my second book of the year. Not sure how to list that in my book list. I spent enough time on it that I feel like I deserve "credit" for it, but I certainly didn't finish it. (I know, credit is a silly concept here, there's no contest and no one's keeping score. But it still feels that way.)

Put it in your "Have Read" list, and mark it as abandoned.

Use a fracture for counting abandoned books:

.25 for at least a quarter read.
.50 for at least half read.
.75 for at least three quarters read.

Only useful if you regularly abandon books, which can happen if you are actively trying to discover new authors or genres.

I count it as a book -- after all, it's no longer on my TBR pile. But I do mark it as 'Abandoned'.

I pretty rarely abandon books (though sometimes the author's other books may sit dormant in Calibre for a very long time if I wasn't thrilled), and I invested a fair amount of time into this one before deciding I wasn't willing to put up with the torture. I think I'll put it in the list, but mark it abandoned.

Now to decide how to cost out books gotten as part of Baen Monthly Bundles (aka, Webscriptions). I'm trying to decide if it's strictly Cost/# of books, or if it should be Cost/#of books I actually intend to read. The latter makes more sense, but it's a lot harder to be accurate with, plus sometimes it changes when I get surprised by an author (such as Frank Chadwick). Plus it's going to be a nightmare to go back and figure out which books in older bundles I already had. And to keep track as I buy them of which ones I'd already bought. Sigh. Well, we'll have fun with it, certainly.

I also rarely abondon books, but when I do, I mark it as "read" on goodreads, stick it on my "abandoned" shelf, but don't give it a "finished reading" date, that way it doesn't show up in the challenge.

I feel you on the "credit" though, that's one of the main reasons I just suffer through it and finish I guess.

I did a simple cost/number-of-books-I-didn't-have-at-the-time-I bought it. Since I did the cost calculations working from my Baen email receipts in date order, it was easy to tell which ones were new to me, since they were the ones without prices.
