Relaxing with an afternoon cup of tea. Got all my chores done and only got stuck temporarily in one traffic jam. The holiday traffic downtown is probably at a standstill right now, and will only get worse over the next day or two.
Thais love to celebrate New Years, and do it three times; Western New Year (tomorrow,) Chinese New Year at the end of January/beginning of February, and Thai New Year in April. Happy New Year!

Being bored and waiting for midnight.

This is really bad for my wallet; I've already bought 3 ebooks to complete series I'm reading and love.

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed that the students next door don't throw a party. They usually do and a couple of years ago it lasted until nearly 6am (doorbell is broken, they don't listen to complaints and the police has more important things to do). I've already selected several films I can watch in case they have a party (expect the worse, hope for the best).

Home to collapse after the 2 most exhausting days of the year for me at work - year end close out, part of which involves updating the payroll software (without any errors) for 2014 ... doubly challenging this year since NC completely revamped its payroll withholding system ..... on top of cleaning up the general ledger, solving all remaining problems for 2013, pulling numbers together for tax preparation, etc.

I managed to get enough done today at work to stay home tomorrow and sleep .... usually I have to go in on New Year's day to finish stuff up ...
You know you're too old for this crap when you actually look forward to being unconscious ....

[Good news though - my new B&D leaf blower/vacuum/mulcher arrives Friday .... just in time for the next arctic cold air blast ...]

Stitching up a heavy canvas fencing target. I forgot how difficult it can be to touch a 2mm circle with only the point of a 90cm-long sword! (Try it with an umbrella and you'll see.) This is gonna take practice! Lots of practice!

Wearing glasses instead of my contact lenses. Since Monday I haven't been able to sleep properly. When I'm tired, like now, and wear my contacts my eyelid(s) may swell, nothing painful and it'll disappear quickly when I take out my contact and put a wet cloth on my eye(s) but annoying nonetheless.

Minced... Sliced and diced.... roasted.... beaten soundly 'bout the head and shoulders... And the worst part was, I never even SAW most of his touches! They were just too damn fast! Even his recovery was incredibly fast. The only way I knew he scored a touch was that the score board kept ringing and lighting up every few seconds. Bing! Bing! Bing! Bing! Bing! Bing! Yep! That's pretty much how I felt when I went back to fencing school. Like I said before, it's changed a lot. The attacks are very different and very, how to put it? Aggressively hostile? It just didn't seem to have the art and finesse that I recall

After the busy December month, working a lot and spending time with family, I need a day to myself. So I've planned Wednesday off and decided to go to Amsterdam. Tonight I saw an tv commercial for the Titanic exhibition in Amsterdam so that will be my morning activity and afterwards I'm going to have lunch at my favourite café and do some shopping; I need Crocs and I want to visit the Tea Bar to stock up on tea.

The umbrella seems to work much better than a purse.
