Humans are nothing if not resourceful.
![]() To be honest I seldom go through hoops anymore. And I purchase very few ebooks. I haven't used 75off but didn't want to waste it which is why I asked if Kobo allows gifting. I'd gift a book for a MR member who can repay to my Paypal account. |

When I set up the new account in India I had cleared the payment info section. This morning I went in and added payment info to the 'my account' section and the promo code option appeared when I chose to buy a book. I then went back to my original Canadian Kobo account and deleted the credit card info and lost the promo code option. I've now added it back but I am rather concerned about the implications of this. Anyone who wants to use promo codes has no choice but to register credit card info. While I have been ok with allowing Kobo to have my credit card info for the last few years, I only did so because of the hassle of re-entering with every book I bought. Anyone who does not want card info stored will have to clear the account payment info after every purchase and add back in the next time. Probably not such a big deal in the grand scheme of things since most of us are used to entering such info with new purchases on most sites anyway. This change is clearly related to the switch to the new "look" and the cart option now in place in Canada, US, UK and India (sites I have tried). In Mexico the old checkout option is still in place so no need to register credit card info in order to use promo codes. By the way, 75off and bookriot50 worked in India today; 85off and 95comic did not. Last edited by msjo; 01-02-2014 at 08:44 AM. |

BookRiot50 has stopped working for me on the US & Canada sides. 50dec is still working.

Anyone else having trouble accessing their libraries? When I follow the https://www.kobobooks.com/library/library.html link it just bounces me back to the home page.
EDIT: Never mind. I was able to get to it using the link for the old site http://www.kobobooks.com/library/reading.html |

I didn't need to enter any payment details to use promo codes for books in the cart on the UK site. I did already have store credit from an eGift card I bought in NZ though.

This has become extremely aggravating, especially on top of the already overall aggravating-ness of the Kobo site on mobile/iPad! |

----Also, if you are using a US account, remember to put your correct state in. It automatically set me to Alabama and I didn't realize it until after I made a couple of transactions. Turns out Alabama has sales tax on ebooks while Virginia doesn't. Even though my address was obviously not an Alabama one (Virginia Zip) the system doesn't seem to recognize it. When purchasing from a country that has both US and UK centric books, be sure to check the entire book list, as there will usually be two versions of the book, one cheap and the other expensive. Last edited by murg; 01-02-2014 at 06:50 PM. |
