To transfer audiobooks to my Sansa Clips, I use three programs. For Audible audiobooks, I use AudibleManager. For library audiobooks, I use OverDrive Media Console. For MP3 audiobooks from other stores, I use MediaMonkey. I've yet to encounter any major problems.

I run my Downpour books through MediaMonkey, then to my Clip. No unknowns or tracks played out of sequence yet. But then; I only have a few from Downpour, so rarely play them.

Heh... Appropriately named then, MediaMonkey.

Will give it a go. Love the idea of buying unencumbered mp3s if I can, and MMonkey sounds like it will do the trick. Sending to device is what's missing from Nightengale, though it seems like a decent cataloging program.

I do as someone else suggested and add audiobooks as an "empty book" in Calibre. But I don't create a separate library--I just tag them as audiobooks. Since I have them organized in folders it is not hard to find the files when I need them, but if you really wanted to be organized about it, you could link each book entry to its folder using the summary field in Calibre. I usually copy the length, narrator, and other info in there anyway.

Ah, now if Calibre could play sound files.......
I use sound taxi to liberate audible books. I used to burn them to a cd image, then strip to mp3, but sound taxi is easier.
