Newbie with Kindle
I am a new user with kindle and have downloaded Calibre so that I can convert Library e-books onto my Kindle( I live in UK so Libraries dont allow you to get books straight to Kindle).
I have two books I wish to convert but am having no luck.When I try to convert the books I get an error message supported formats( available formats ASCM) .
Where do I go from here? How do I find out what format the Library ebooks are in?

The problem is that you have not yet managed to get the book. An .ascm file is not the book, but merely a pointer to a book. It normally needs to be used in conjunction with Adobe Digital Edition (ADE) to actually get the book before it can be added to Calibre.

ASCM is a 'Token' issued to you by the vendor.
You must supply the token to Adobe Digital Editions (program) so that it may retrieve your AUTHORIZED DRM'd version of the book
The token is only valid for 1 use (retrieval)
