Nope. This is how we like it and the mods are cool with it.

And although the Angelique series started my love of historical romance, they are not technical romance and they are not available to purchase, unless you have a couple of 100 dollars, so I'll list something else.

And what I am naming is not in any way shape the best or favorite romance I have ever read because well, like I said, I have so many. I don't like ranking them as they invoke different feelings. Pretty much anything I give 5 stars too is my favorite.

I basically just grabbed a couple to narrow it down between
Highland Rebel by Judith James and
Under the same Sky by Genevieve Graham.

So I'll just roll the dice and the pick is......

Highland Rebel by Judith James
Oh my gosh, forgot about Angelique! Read those in high school, a very long time ago. Those were fantastic. Too bad they aren't available. They had everything! Had better go peak at this list being made..

Happy New Year to all!!! I decided to post now, later I may not be of sound mind or body.
My two favorite books are....The Forbidden Rose by Joanna Bourne and Not Quite A Husband by Sherry Thomas. But if I had to pick one it would be Not Quite a Husband. This book just touched me in a unique way.

I don't think so, it was requested to widen the previous thread for this as we tend to digress

Happy New Year to everybody!

I may be in the minority, but the Regency period (taking place in England), is my absolute favorite historical romance setting. I love it. I do sometimes enjoy post US Civil War stories set in the Old West, as well. Any other period, not so fond of. *With the exception of Steampunk, which is more Victorian, I love Steampunk, too.

I may not post often, but i love the thread the way it is. I check in several times a day, but if I don't I just pick up where I left off and catch up. If a particular discussion doesn't interest me I just skim those posts to make sure no deals/freebies are listed and continue on.

Nope I love the Regency period. Really prefer anything before 1840's. Not fond of steampunk but that could be from not finding the right author. Not a fan of paranormal unless it deals with ghost. Anything other than that I will not read.

Oh, well I love paranormal, and I love historical, so Steampunk fits for me, as it is often full of paranormal something or other. But, I don't usually like reading about ghosts!!! LOL!

We are all so different. But we love our romance, our happy endings!

Happy New Year to you and everyone else here! I'm looking forward to another year of freebies, bargains and, wait for it, discussions!!

So, going back to Blossom's question, if I had to choose one book to encourage someone to read, it would be from my 2013 list (my head hurts at the thought of choosing anything from before then) and it would be The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley. It's a lovely historical with an unusual hero and I enjoyed it loads.

For ages I wanted to try Steampunk and when I finally did it was disappointing. But I think it was just that particular book and not the genre itself so I'm definitely open to giving it another try.

I'll jump in on the req discussion - I found and read this series over the last couple of months which is probably why it is still resounding with me, but the reason it resounded in the first place is because the author has strong feelings regarding the care military vets get (esp those suffering PTSD) and writes realistically yet optimistically about it. These are romances, no doubt about it, and follow the HEA formula, but she does not gloss over the real affects of PTSD or the real problems facing our vets. She also donates some of her proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project. The series isn't finished and she also appears to have a spin-off one, but you can read each as a stand-alone, though I do suggest the pre-quel as it sets the feeling and tone of the series.

Lost And Found Series - J.M. Madden
The Embattled Road - pre-quel
Embattled Hearts
Embattled Minds
Embattled Home - due out any time...

I read Intimate Deception by Laura Landon last night and I enjoyed it.

I will wait for The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley to either go on sale or come down in price.
