No, you're not mistaken. You can open any file in the source code, change it, and then recompile the program. (Assuming your change does not break it.)

So basically, as soon as you post a new unofficial deb (thanks for that, by the way) I may get around to that. But it's just bug fixes anyway, so I should feel no pressure unless I must have the latest everything for psychological reasons.

Yes. User_none posted he had trouble with the google site so he shifted to the new one.

That's where the source repository is. I think the binary installer downloads are still hosted at the old google-code home. At least I didn't see a download section at git-hub at a quick glance. Could be wrong though.

I've seen Rob Ireton's compact smaller method of compiling the latest Sigil. I am having challenges with running cmake on this LTS version of Kubuntu. Fixes I have found on the net for downloading and installing cmake 2.8.9 (see http://www.cmake.org/pipermail/cmake...ry/053649.html) are not being found by this command in the how-to on the google code site:

make -G "Unix Makefiles" -DCMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=/opt/Qt5.1.0/5.1.0/gcc/lib/cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release -DFORCE_BUNDLED_COPIES=1 ~/sigil-0.7.3/src

Has anyone configured a new package for Debian more recent than April 2013 that is ideal for those not sufficiently versed in DIY compiling?

I don't think so, but 0.7.4 is only a maintenance/bugfix. It adds support for OSX, which you don't need, and:

In other words, you may very well not need any of the (minor) improvements in 0.7.4, if so, don't bother???

You may also want to take a look at calibre's latest feature, ebook-edit.exe as it is the spiritual heir of Sigil. It's already quite good.

Some of the tweaks I am looking for are quirks I have found in 0.7.2 which I am presently using. I don't know if it was due to changes in the Qt Libraries or actual changes in Sigil but I have issues with:

• selecting more than one html file in the left pane for functions such as bulk exporting or deleting
• navigation in the file dialog windows is down to one-click where I have two-clicks everywhere else on my system

in short I was happier with what I had before 0.7.2 but that was no longer available when I acquired a new system in July and upgraded my installation.

You mention Calibre's ebook-edit.exe in your post. What is the corresponding executable in Linux? I looked and all I found was 'Teak Book' when I right-click a book title in Calibre.

Remember to ensure you are on a current version of calibre and not (normally) what is in your distribution's repository.

and of course, like all the other calibre utilities, it will be the same on either platform, except Windows ends with .exe, linux doesn't. Assuming you have version 1.15+ installed.

Tweak Book is the old version that just turns the book into an editable folder; this was hidden when Edit was released (still available under Preferences ==> toolbar, as Unpack Book) and switched for Edit book, so you are almost definitely in need of upgrading.

It can be run by right-clicking a book in your library (or hotkey=T) or by running:

ebook-edit /path/to/book

I believe a .desktop menu item is created too.

Maybe just a typo in your post, but that command should be cmake, not make.

In my experience, in order for cmake to complete without errors, I had to modify line 125 of /opt/Qt5/5.1.1/gcc/lib/cmake/Qt5Gui/Qt5GuiConfig.cmake thus:

# include("${CMAKE_CURRENT_LIST_DIR}/Qt5GuiConfigExtras.cmake")

that is, comment it out. Unfortunately, I can't remember why I needed to do that. :-(

I am running Kubuntu 13.10, KDE 4.11.3, and the "selecting a block of files" bug is no longer there.

However, on Debian Wheezy and KDE 4.8.4, it is still there (I blame KDE's Qt), and the workaround is still the same. To wit:

a) hilight first file in list
b) shift-click on last file in list. The selection appears briefly, then disappears.
c) Shift-Click on last file again, and selection re-appears.

I don't have an installation of Kubuntu 13.04 anymore, and I can't remember whether it was there or not.
