Well... I did get a few more Delphi Classics that were on my "Have to get those someday, if i feel like it"-list, and the REDLAW 50% off code for this weekend seemed to be a good opportunity. 5 huge books containing many works for $7.47 (€5.45) is a good deal, even if i only read one work out of each compilation.

Yeah, me too. OTOH, I got some books I'd been wanting for a while at a price I was willing to pay. And there are more out there, if the conditions occur when the funds are there.

I'll join this crowd. I was hoping to replace all of my Stephen King books with e-copies, but I only got about a third of 'em before the deal ended.

If you don't already have it, the Shining is $1.99 at Amazon. One of my favorites. I'm reading it before starting Dr. Sleep.

It's time to state your resolutions for the new year (if you want to).

In 2014 I will:

* Only buy books on special offer — never less than 30% off (except subscriptions).
* Not buy any books just because they are on special offer
* Spend no more than $40 on ebooks per month (including subscriptions)
* To read all my unread bought books from 2003 and 2004 (that's not a typo)
* To read all the books I buy in 2014, unless doing so would mean reading a series out of order.

I hope in this way to make a sizeable dent in my TBR, which at the start of 2014 will stand at 800 ebooks, although about 100 of them are short stories/novellas from Fictionwise.

Good luck. I think the "Not buy any books just because they are on special offer" is going to be the hardest one for me to keep.

I'll dust off my resolution for 2013: Only buy an ebook if I plan to read it immediately; price no object. I know I'd save money if I went to a "just in time" system, Kobo coupons be damned.

Realistically, this is an ideal and not achievable. My intermediate goal will be only to use megacoupons on books that are on my wishlist, even if I'm not going to get to them right away.

Oh, and this would be good: not to buy any Kindle Daily Deals. They suck me in (not frequently, but occasionally), but they're never high priority books, so they just add to the virtual clutter.

* Spend no more than $150 (does not include Audible subscription or Baen Bundle)
* Listen to at least 35 unheard audiobooks from 2011 and earlier
* Read all the books/audiobooks I buy in 2014, unless doing so would mean reading a series out of order
* Read only two book club selections per month

I've given up on magazine subscriptions. B&N has now lost all my Asimov magazines collected over 3 years, including the ones I hadn't read yet. Since you can no longer download them to your computer to archive, heck with it. Thanks pdurrant for the idea for point number 3. It's a good point.

I think you will lose money.

The only way you'd save money is by not buying books on impulse that end up being unread.

For example, there are over 300 books in the Forgotten Realms at the moment.

When buying such an amount of books, I'd like to take advantage of discount coupons as they come along, especially when they are 70% and up to 85% even, such as the ones of last month. It saves a huge amount of money, taken into account that at some point in time, I *would* buy those books anyway.
