I can't list one, and it's worse when my likings are usually quite different from everybody. Perhaps "Someone to watch over me", by Judith McNaught.

See that's just it. By listing your favorite you want people to read they just may discover a new author or genre they like that they would have never tried otherwise.

There is romance in the series but it develops over a number of books. There is some sexual tension in Magic Bites but the romance only becomes a major plot element from book #3.
The series is fantastic. Highly recommend it. |

My recommended read for historical romance - The Governess Affair / The Duchess Wars / A Kiss for Midwinter / The Heiress Effect by Courtney Milan And there is a new one out I plan to read ASAP. For historical paranormal MM lovers, you have GOT to read the Kim Knox books Agamemnon Frost and the House of Death / the Hollow Ships / The Crown of Towers. |

Me too! I love Kate!
My recommend would be the first book in Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series, Halfway to the Grave. I thought it would be a total fluff piece but I ended up LOVING it. Excellent urban fantasy and I believe it's only 99 cents on Amazon. |

Oh yes, very in this book. I avoided Urban Fantasy until recently when I got a copy of the first Kate Daniels book on audio. Renee Raudman, as narrator, is excellent. The romance starts slow in the first couple of books, but really gets cooking later. There is a lot of focus on adventure and action, but the Hero is really possessive and protective of Kate, even though she's kickass herself. In this book he does something really boneheaded and ends up doing some nice grovelling. Always a favorite of mine.
![]() The other things about this series is that there is no love triangle, which I hate, and no different partners in different books like some Urban Fantasy. Just a slow growing relationship between Kate and Cullen. |

Yes, another Urban Fantasy with a great romance! Highly recommended, also! I love the narration by Tavia Gilbert.

I really enjoy Urban Fantasy and it is the genre that I have read the most in. I have a pet peeve though when UF with romantic elements (which I feel applies to Kate Daniels) written by a woman (and I know Kate is a husband-wife team) is often labelled "romance". The Dresden Files also has romantic elements (really, there is little fiction that doesn't) but because it is written by a man it doesn't get the label "romance". I'm referring to the "Genres" listed at the side of the book's listing on Goodreads. I can check any of my favourite UF series and this pattern holds.
Ilona Andrews also writes a fantastic Paranormal Romance series called the Edge. My opinion is that to be labelled "romance" a book or series has to feature a H/h that get together by the end of the book, and in a series each book has to also follow this rule. Therefore neither Kate Daniels, Harry Dresden nor Cat and Bones would be officially "romance". I'm interested in what all of you long-term romance readers think. |
