One time this happened while I was grocery shopping. I had lots of refrigerated and frozen stuff. When they refused to let me make the call to get the block lifted, I told them to cancel the entire transaction. I then moved off to the side (well within hearing distance of everyone involved), made the call, and got the block lifted. I then turned to the person I was with and said "let's go grocery shopping again". We then went and re-shopped for everything we previously had and made a point to go back to the same cashier. She gave me a look and I held up my card and said "same card, let's do this again"; grinning the whole time. I don't think they were too thrilled about having to put my first cart of groceries away; especially since it contained so many cold products, forcing them to do it right away. But hey, I gave them an easy out and they rejected it.
OMG!! No you don't embarrass easy it seems I do though.

The man behind me said "Aren't you suppose to cut them up when that happens?" I guess he seen too many movies or was joking.
I used to work for credit card customer service and sometimes they are supposed to cut up the cards. ^^; Although the couple of times I had to tell someone to cut the card, they always balked and said they couldn't/wouldn't do that. O_O

However, this only happens if there are a lot of unusual charges happening and the person using the card can't verify the account information OR the card has been reported missing by the owner. (Obviously, the credit card company has to be called to give the instructions to do so. As far as I know the register doesn't flash "card declined, destroy immediately" like you see in TV and movies.)
It doesn't mean mistakes don't happen, but usually it's a case of being better safe then sorry.

That being said ---- what the cashier and that other customer did was totally uncalled for. D:<

---I had this job back in 2003-2005, so I'm not sure if they do that anymore. From what I've seen now, most companies just contact the customer directly to ask about the charges rather than waiting to be called.

Our investigation into the data breach incident is continuing and ongoing. While we are still in the early stages of this criminal and forensic investigation, we continue to be committed to sharing the facts as they are confirmed.

While we previously shared that encrypted data was obtained, this morning through additional forensics work we were able to confirm that strongly encrypted PIN data was removed. We remain confident that PIN numbers are safe and secure. The PIN information was fully encrypted at the keypad, remained encrypted within our system, and remained encrypted when it was removed from our systems.

To help explain this, we want to provide more context on how the encryption process works. When a guest uses a debit card in our stores and enters a PIN, the PIN is encrypted at the keypad with what is known as Triple DES. Triple DES encryption is a highly secure encryption standard used broadly throughout the U.S.

Target does not have access to nor does it store the encryption key within our system. The PIN information is encrypted within Target's systems and can only be decrypted when it is received by our external, independent payment processor. What this means is that the "key" necessary to decrypt that data has never existed within Target's system and could not have been taken during this incident.

The most important thing for our guests to know is that their debit card accounts have not been compromised due to the encrypted PIN numbers being taken.
New statement from Target.

What is the difference between the Clip Zip and the Clip Plus? Does the Plus have a longer battery life?

Well I decided to get another Clip Zip, in purple, refurbished, from Amazon, $21.99.

Not sure if refurb is appropriate in this thread (apologies if not), but one of eBay's US "Daily Deals" today is a manufacturer refurb Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 for $124.99 with free shipping. This is the white model. I know some others have had problems with Samsung refurbs, but I own several Samsung refurbs ranging from the smallest Galaxy Player to a Galaxy S2 to a bronze Tab 3 7.0 and have had no problems with any of them.

The listing provides the following info on item condition:

Quote:
Light Use
This unit has been restored and refreshed to like new condition and when processed may produce extremely light signs of use, which may include very light scratches or scuffs on the casing of the unit.

Manufacturer Refurbished
This item has been fully tested and found to be fully functional. It has been restored back to factory settings. The images above are NOT actual images of the product you may receive; they are stock images of the product offered in this listing. Please refer to the item condition for a further explanation of the product currently offered in this listing. This unit has a small embossed mark on the back of the unit to signify the unit has been refurbished, it does not have any impact on the functionality of the unit.
It comes with a 60 day warranty from the seller.

I'd go with the zip just in hopes that the clip on the back is sturdier than the one on the plus. My plus clip broke after very little use and wasn't replaceable like the first gen clips were.

Tubemonkey, one correction for your list is that the clip + does have an audiobook folder.

The Zip has a folder for audiobooks on the main screen, making it easier to access; whereas the Clip+ has a sub-folder buried inside the music folder.

edit: I've edited my post to correct the confusion I created - thanks for pointing it out

I wonder if the various firmware versions handle audiobooks differently? My now clip-less clip plus has the audiobook folder separate from the music folder on the main screen. At any rate, it's a disappointing player and this is coming from a huge Sansa clip fan.

Hmm... my Clipless+ still has it as a sub-folder. I'll dig it out and check the firmware.

Oops, my bad. In the clip + Audiobooks is a sub folder under music, along with podcasts, playlists, albums etc.
