Good morning, everyone! Almost the beginning of a new year. Are you ready? Why do Time flies like arrows? Hmmmm.... I have a new English Breakfast tea that Santa brought for me to try this morning.... Locally blended stuff....(sip, sip, sip) Oh oh! Santa needs a lesson in tea blending. Well, it's the thought that counts, right? An this will make very nice compost for the acid-loving plants! Always a silver lining!

Lot's of errands to run today.. Looking for new fencing shoes, trying to find Felicity's favorite dry food, buying a few bags of popcorn, looking for a large hunting knife made by the local hilltribe people - a request from a fellow knifeknut back in the States. I'll re-hilt the knife and make a custom sheath for it. They come with rather uncomfortable handles and wire-wrapped wooden sheaths. Nice for collecting but not for using. But the steel is good high carbon spring steel from old car leaf springs, re-forged into a very nice Bowie-style work knife. Better quality than many western commercially produced knives for about $5!

Charlie, if it's of any help, most medications are sold over-the-counter here at 1/5 the price in the US and Canada. All major Big Pharma labels as well as generic 'USP' and 'ASTM's pharmaceutical application standards.' Everything other than opiates, barbiturates, and tranquilizers is available without prescription... and even some of those! If you want, just let me know. The price saving are enormous. I used to send my father's medications to him in Florida... he had to pay about $250 a month there, while it cost less than $50 here.

I carry an inhaler but don't need it. I had massive problems last year with respiratory infections.

@Stitchawl: Thanks. So far, not an issue. But might yet get there. OTOH, as my income goes down, my Canadian health care kicks in to help out. Price of my meds went down towards the end of the year as I exceeded my deductible.

Diet coke this evening.

Black Boss Porter - from Poland! How did this sneak into my NC medley of microbrews?
Very thick, rich, chocolate, coffee, fruity on the palate, malty not hoppy - with quite a kick! A bit too sweet for my taste - but went well with pizza.

Sounds like the porter is more food than the pizza, pooh.

I've never been a big fan of porter, though it has been years since I had one, I'd have to admit. Might be time to try a couple again, just to see if my tastes have changed.

IAC, up way too early this morning. Couldn't sleep, so might as well get some work done. And check in here while I wait for a server to install.

In my cup - stale diet coke from last night. All I'll get until I go downstairs and brew some tea.
