				Modify my Kindle library

New to the forum and my Kindle. When looking in my Kindle library,I find 4 pages, a lot of foreign dictionaries, and one page of book titles. Can I safely delete the foreign dictionaries? Is there a reason not to? Bill |

The main reason not to delete the dictionaries is if you ever read a book in a language other than English. For example, if the book is flagged as being in French (via a setting in its meta data), the French dictionary will kick in when you look up a word while reading the book. If that's not an issue for you, you can go ahead and delete the unwanted dictionaries. Or, you can play it safe, and simply create a collection for them. That way, they will still be available if needed, but they won't clutter the home screen. Mike |

The foreign language dictionaries won't be installed on your Kindle unless you've downloaded them. They are available for you to download, but they won't be downloaded.

The last time I tried to delete the foreign dictionaries I never use they would not delete. They kept coming back to the Manage My Kindle list page. So you are probably stuck with them in the Cloud, though as HarryT said you don't have to have them on your device.

I delete mine all the time, unfortunately they come back when you deregister and then reregister a device. Personally I wish there was a way to opt out of them, but oh well.

The dictionaries should always show up as the last items in your MYK (if you never deleted them), and in the Dictionaries collection at the very back of your device, so it's very unobtrusive. | |

OK, so they are just listed but are not using any memory unless I download them? That makes sense, putting them in a collection may be my answer...I just hate the clutter. Thanks Bill |

If you are just worried about memory, then yes. If you leave them in the cloud, then like all cloud books, it will take up no memory. Dictionaries are automatically given a collection, called Dictionaries, that appears at the very end of the book list, no matter what.
