Thanks again Mort1997! I've read the first three, already got no.4 in the series and have now got the complete set, brilliant! DS McRae and his fellow Aberdeen polis can be a bit mouthy and OTT, but I love the humour of these books.

Free Today on Amazon - The Eve of Murder by James Whitworth
The Yorkshire coastal town of Whitby is getting ready for the literary festival that is going to put it back on the cultural map. But as the opening day draws near, the body of Georgina Callan, the festival’s organizer, is found dead on West Cliff - at exactly the same spot where her father threw himself to his death many years before. Except her death was no suicide. She has been strangled. An elderly dog walker reveals that he has seen her at the Cliff almost every night for the last year. She always has company, yet her male companion is not her husband. Was her death an isolated attack? Or is there a serial killer at large in the town? Meanwhile, Don Watson, the famous writer and literary figure , is coming to Whitby to speak at the festival. He needs police protection because he has been receiving death threats. Detective Inspector Frank Miller has a big job on his hands: solve the murder before the festival starts and keep Don Watson safe. Can Miller stop another killing. Or is this 'The Eve of Murder'? Hmm, I like the look of that. Only a couple of negative reviews (had to laugh at "it read as though it had been translated from another language"!) and £1.39 isn't much of a risk to try on a new author....
I really need to stop looking at this thread, getting through my Amazon vouchers far too quickly! |

![]() Anyway, I bought mine when it was available in Aus for $4.95 minus whatever discount code I used and paid $1.73 for it. Seems Kobo's a bit unsure about what's available where and what's not, eh. |

Amazon UK has eight of Agatha Christie's Poirot mystery books for sale at £0.99 each. Highly recommended, especially at such a good price. (I have them already, or my Decemeber total would now be eight books higher!)

Eight of Agatha Christie's "Hercule Poirot" mysteries at 99p each in today's Amazon UK Kindle Daily Deal:
Highly recommended, if there's anyone who hasn't read these. My personal favourites are "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" and "Death on the Nile". EDIT: We were posting at the same time, Paul! |

Even though I already had them, I've re-bought them, because they're much better formatted than the old FW editions with the black covers that I originally bought many years ago. The FW versions have lots of run-together words, and words with accents often have the accent printed separately, rather than over the word it should be associated with. Since I know these are definite "re-reads" for me, they're worth spending another 99p each on.
