Yikes! Your icy photos made me shiver!

Today we are having some really spooky unnatural weather. In the south we have 'hurricane weather' - days of warm, humid, gusty weather with ominous gray/black clouds and a sense of impending menace - very 'close' weather.
On Dec. 22 our high temps should shatter all records - it was 69 F when I got up, and going to hit 79 F this afternoon! I can't remember an Xmas season this strange ... meteorologically speaking ...

Reading my Kindle outside under the palm trees. I earned this having driven 1200 miles and over many snow-covered, icy mountain passes to get here (-9 the morning I left La Grande, Oregon). Worth it.

Fortunately, I'm downtown, which was spared the worst of it - I had to scrape some ice off the sidewalks, but never lost power (so far). But there's no salt left in the stores, so that's the best I can do.

We lost power for 24 hours, but it's back now. I could not find salt but got some sand to at least provide some grip. I did however see my next-door neighbour return from grocery shopping (Food Basic's I think) and there were bags of salt in his trunk...

Of course, as I typed this the lights did flicker, but the UPS kept all going!

I couldn't even get sand this morning. I'm thinking of untarping and emptying the Spawns sandbox...

I had two 20kg bags of salt before the storm, but I have elderly relatives who are none too steady on their feet in the best of weather so it's gone now.

We're having strong winds/gale. The peak is supposed to be tonight, but I'm a little worried since I have to bring my bike to the repair shop tomorrow morning and it's about 9 km from my place.
I guess I'll see tomorrow if it seems safe to ride there.
