I didn't contact Amazon today. I was sick last night and tonight I injured my foot so It's gonna have to wait. I'm on crutches again. I don't think it's broke like last time.

You are correct. I checked the Amazon UK site and that offer is not shown there. I can't understand why US residents can get it and not UK residents. It doesn't make sense to me. Its the SAME COMPANY.

However, I have noticed that Steam Game prices seem to be inflated by a lot for Australian and New Zealand residents over what US residents pay. Those are downloaded, online games played from the SAME SITE and that also makes no sense.

I have also noticed that the PW 2013 available to Japanese residents has far more memory than the one offered to US residents. I don't understand that either.

I tried 'Turn On Publisher Font' on the one book I found that offered this. It did almost nothing at all. Does it actually work?

At any rate, it is not a feature that Fire has.

Actually the New Kindle Fires now have this feature. I've been reconverting all my books to work with it. It works great if use Calibre to embed the fonts and you no longer have to add the font to every style in the stylesheet. Only to the body style and Calibre does this automatically.

It sounds like the book publisher forgot to embed the fonts and just added it to the CSS.

I just tested it in Kindle app and it works great too.

Why in hell would Amazon not place the Turn On/Off Publisher Font option in the Font menu like they did on the Kindles and on the iOS app? Amazon is certainly inconsistent between development groups!

At any rate, it has no effect in either the Android or the iOS apps. In the Android app, if an embedded font exists in the personal doc then that font is displayed regardless of how you set the Turn On/Off Publisher Font option. In the iOS app, even if an embedded font exists in the personal doc that font is never displayed regardless of how you set the Turn On/Off Publisher Font option. The Turn On/Off Publisher Font option is a major FAIL in both apps as it provides absolutely no control whatever!

This is only true if the font is set in each styles it will show regardless. This isn't Amazon fault but the publisher who incorrectly coded the book. With the new updates each book now works like they do on eINK Kindles. You set the font in the main body style and you can turn it on or off at will. So books finally work correctly on the New Kindle Fires and the Android app. The Old Kindle Fires still have to do it the old way to get it to work.

You no longer have to put font-family in every style just the main style if you own this year's Kindle Fires or use Kindle For Android.
