Others interested in the "Great Detectives" would do well to have a bash at Harry's excellent work in making available to us the "Thorndyke Forensic Detective" series.
These are a particularly fascinating counter to the Holmes canon, the descriptions of Thorndyke's scientific solutions to his various problems in particular.

O gesh! I had never heard of this series. I now have it downloaded and added to my TBR list. I used to say I needed to live to 150 to read all the books I wanted to read. I think that must be closer to 200 years now! Here's hoping for some major medical breakthroughs soon!

Thank you - I've enjoyed the excellent BBC Radio adaptations of these books, but haven't read any. A bargain at that price.

EDIT: The entire series of 10 books is available at 99p per book, so this is a great opportunity to get the complete series for not that much more than the normal price of one book.

It's really tempting but while I quite enjoyed the first in the series, didn't enjoy the next two quite so much, I've got the 4th in the series but not read it yet (compromise, I've skipped a couple and bought four of the six I haven't got, ta much for highlighting this Mort1997).... now if it was Mankell's Wallender seriers, I'd snap the rest of them up in an instant!
