Kindle For Android Taking up 1GB! - Page 2

Maybe that 2 Gb of data is a temporary file and will disappear after you shut down your unit. It may be normal.

Okay scratch that I haven't touch the manual button or opened the Kindle app today and it just shot up to 700MB.

I'm running 4.4.0 I guess. Kernel version 3.4.0-gb0eacf3. Build number KRT16S. I haven't had WiFi on in while because I seldom use my Nexus 7.2 since I got my ipad Mini Retina. I briefly turned it on to do a test sync for you in Kindle, but it is back off now. Looks like I haven't had any updates install since KitKat was installed.

Okay see I did update and I think the update may be to blame. I got your Kindle version installed and testing it now.

This doesn't have collections like the new version does though.

I think I turned automatic installation of updates to OFF, so that is probably why I didn't realize KitKat and Kindle had been updated. Like I said, I haven't used it much since getting the iPad Mini Retina, so I put it into Airplane mode to conserve battery. I guess I need to turn WiFi back on for a while and see which updates are available.

Well your version of Kindle seems to be acting buggy it seems I got books on my carousel and if I delete them more books from the Cloud start to show up.

I'm pretty sure this didn't happen before the KitKat 4.4.2 update.

It looks like this version is doing it too. Only in smaller amounts. It seems to jumping like 50MB on every sync.

Have you called Nexus customer support? Maybe they already have a work around.

No Kindle Support is who you talk to. It's up to app developer to fix the problem or find a work around.

Other Nexus owners are reporting problems with the Kindle app.

Could the solution be to return the Nexus and buy a KINDLE? How long does Nexus allow for returns?

I am not going to return my Nexus because the Kindle app is broke. The Nexus is a awesome tablet and there are much better reader apps out there but people do need to be aware there is a bug in case suddenly their tablet is acting up. I'll just uninstall the Kindle app and wait for a fix. Leaving it on there is not a option as it syncs even when closed it seems.

The link you gave is from August. The Kindle app work fine till last's week update. It's obviously something that needs to be fixed.

That is really weird. I do have the app and my account synced to it, but I don't really use it. I checked and mine is 122 mb. Hope you can sort it! Did you try posting over at android central in the Nexus forum?

Not a member there but do keep an eye on it just in case your space starts going missing ir if you notice your tablet acting odd.

I'm using Kindle Android on Galaxy Note 3, version 4.2.0.54. Total was consumed 873MB with about 30 books on it. I think most memory need is for cloud books, title, cover and other information.

I hate that carousel so I never use it. I sure hope they don't put it on the iOS app. I guess something changed between 4.4.0 and 4.4.2 to cause problems. I only use the Nexus 7.2 to control my Canon dSLR camera when doing astrophotography. That doesn't require WiFi, and since it works well with 4.4.0 I think I'll leave it in Airplane mode so I don't get 900 update notices every other day. Damn Android is worse than Windows with its annoying update notices!

I would believe that if it didn't jump in size with every sync when there hasn't been any changes made to the cloud or books on Device and it keeps growing.

If should stay a consistent size with only a little change here and there as you add to the cloud or add books...etc.
