Current Audiobook Specials

My status shows as "Not Enrolled", and I've never had a membership of any type. I don't see any sale banner, books are at regular price. (Most of the special Audible deals are not visible to me, and I'm always surprised when I do get to take advantage of a deal mentioned here.)
I do buy from occasional public specials & whispersync deals, and have a "cash" balance on my account (but not book credits).
There does certainly seem to be a complicated set of algorithms in play for who qualifies for specials-- I would guess that those who have had memberships of certain types get "tick-marked" when they had a specific membership, and don't always get "un-ticked" if the membership lapses or changes.

Log in to Audible, then hover the mouse over your name and a box will open. Under "Membership status", tell me what it says (exact wording please), how much you pay per month or year, and which offers you usually get. Cataloging this info could be helpful in determining which plans get the offers and which don't.

I'm not sure if this offer is account specific. The URL contains a source code. What are the last 4 digits for you? Mine are 0613.

My source code for The Cricket on the Hearth ends with the same four numbers. But there's also a generic version of the URL floating around, http://www.audible.com/mt/Holiday2013/, and that version works for people without Audible memberships.

Somehow I ended up with an extra $10 credit on Audible. Is there a way to search for books that are in a certain member price range (e.g. $3.00-$4.99)?

sleepy, I just did a little googling and playing around.

If you go to the "audible audiobooks & more" section on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=sa_menu_...ode=2402172011

Then click a category you're interested in (say nonfiction). You'll get a huge address in your browser address bar.

Go to the very end of that address and add the following:
"&field-price=300-499&redirect=true"

where the two numbers are the price range (in pennies) that you are looking for.

I'm sure there's an easier way, but this does seem to work. Here's an example with "fiction and literature"

the nice thing about it is you can sort these results by "new and popular" etc instead of just wading through a bunch of crap strictly sorted by price

There used to be. They took it out last Spring when they revamped. It used to be either above or below the listing for listening lengths.

I don't have an easy way to do it with a computer but it is easy when you use the Audible shop from within the Audible app. (I know this from the Android version but I would assume the iThing version would be similar, though if you are wrong making assumptions it can get you beaten on around here.) I usually select the "Categories" option to shop, then once in a category you can set a price range under "Filter Selections."

My understanding is that the iOS version of the app doesn't let you shop because Amazon would have to pay a portion of each sale to Apple.

Apple collects 30% for all app sales and in-app purchases. They have quite a racket going on. That's why Amazon (and others) don't allow in-app purchases. Apple would essentially be taking away 100% of the fees Amazon would charge the content providers.
