I don't have any ads on my Kindles

I paid extra to get rid of ads on all my Kindles (PW's, HD, HDX) and have NO ads anywhere or popups. Of course it is in the Menus and I use it there if I want to buy a new eBook or a new Song. Why not? We should be able to buy stuff if we want. If I hear a song on the radio, I frequently WILL buy that song immediately if I like it.

Exactly when you got 6000 items you don't know which is yours and which is the stores when you are scrolling through the results.

Makes sense. I only have 185 or so books on it so far, most are on the cloud so much less of an issue.

On my HDX when I do a search it clearly indicates where I can find the item I'm searching for either in my library, in the Bookstore, On the Web, Video Store, Appstore and Shop Amazon. So I know exactly what I'm looking at. If I'm looking for a book from a series it lets me know if I have it in my library, if not I can purchase from bookstore etc.

It can't be any clearer.

Yeah, the items are marked where they are but it can make the screen pretty busy.

Some of it depends on how you search, at least for me. Searching an author lastname, firstname gives me results more to my liking than firstname lastname.

I wish there was a way to select only searching your device.

and your cloud items. They could clean up the screen by simply putting all shop items under a Shop category like they have Library and web.

I certainly do. And no the Nexus 7.2 nor the iPads have these obvious and annoying advertisements. But I see some people are so blindly in love with Amazon that they cannot see these ads, but they are definitely there!

Well, I think most people who buy a Kindle intend to use it with their prime membership or don't mind it being heavily tied to Amazon.

It's a little overkill maybe but every device favors one market or another.

I buy something from Amazon EVERY day and many times three times in one day. I buy everything from bathroom supplies, cleaning supplies, clothing, food, electronics, eBooks, songs, cameras, and whatever turns me on for that day.

It certainly beats wasting time in a big box store or a supermarket, plus, I get ONE DAY delivery, most of the time.

I've used Mayday to speak direct to Amazon in seconds about all kinds if issues and get referred right there to the proper person. Again, neither Apple nor Nexus has Mayday or its equivalent. The HDX 2013 is my window to the Amazon super-super-market. In addition the HDX 2013 plays all my music in my selected playlists and allows me to see other songs by any of those artists and buy them right there as I listen to them.

Plus, with MyUPS I get an email with the exact date and time of delivery allowing me to change it if I won't be home.

I pay NOT to have any ads but buy regardless.

Reading eBooks is just one of dozens of uses for the HDX 2013 which are NOT provided by Apple or Nexus.

There is NO WAY one can buy thousands of consumer products from Apple or Nexus.

I ordered hubby's Christmas yesterday at 4PM and got it at 2:30pm today. I got to tell you Amazon is really booking on getting your stuff right now! I do have Prime but with 2 day shipping Monday is when it's was suppose to be here. Of course it all came from Roanoke VA which is about two hours from here. This is fastest I've seen on a delivery from them in all the years I shopped unless it was overnighted.

I predict in Jan, 2015, those Amazon Air Drones will be approved by the FAA and we will get 60 MINUTE deliveries for 5 pounds or less. Of course, we will have to pay more for Amazon Prime Air versus what we have to pay now for Amazon Prime (just $ 79 per year). It will probably cost $ 99 per year.

I think that's cool but for us who lived in the middle of nowhere it wont change anything.
