If your pdfs are only up to A4 in size, then yes the Iliad is the better as it is larger. A Larger screen definitly makes a difference.

However in the 6" size range, the cybook (and I assume the Sony & Bebook etc) in landscape mode is quite readable. You just have to pan around the page. I tried the iliad with a few pdfs and found with my fading eyesight (age) I still needed to rotate & zoom. The iliad did have a better zoom and pan function but it is a lot more expensive.

I think most of the readers allow you to rotate the view to landscape.

I don't believe the BeBook supports panning and the Sony uses reflow, not panning to view the pages.

I bought a Cybook Gen 3 and I'm quite happy with it.

It can read any document by printing it to PDF and cropping margins with Acrobat 8. I tried Acrobat 9 but it produces documents that are not compatible with the Cybook. Until now I've had no PDF compatibility issues with Acrobat 8.

For PDFs, I put the Cybook in landscape mode so fonts are readable.

I hope the e-ink technology advances so we can see better devices soon (faster, lighter, clearer, with color, etc.).
