HDX Something is wrong!

Just yesterday I downloaded Gotcha! by Christie Craig because I was reading the sequel so I search for the hero's name from the new book in Gotcha! and it told me I had to wait till it was indexed there was a little progression bar that show it indexing.

But even where it has done indexing it still has 'searching for..' progress for each search term, and it is far from immediate. So it is a little mysterious as to what it is indexing, and why.

Maybe it just takes something that normally would take a minute without an index and with an index it goes 5-10x faster, which would be a good tradeoff.

I downloaded another book and waited for a couple of minutes before opening it to search. It still ran through indexing progress. So it seems like a just in time thing and not something that happens just by downloading.

I had downloaded the Bible Encyclopedia to the HDX 2013 and it took DAYS to index. It shows a yellow bar across the top when you search to see how far it has indexed.

Plus, the HDX 2013 does not recognize it as a dictionary. I uninstalled it.

It works fine as a dictionary on the PW 2013 and PW 2012 and appears to have indexed much faster on those devices.

I think that feature may be coming. Why else give us indexing if not for dictionaries.

It's a mystery that is for sure! I bet it's a feature not yet implemented. We'll probably see more after Christmas.

Thanks for all the replies. I did as Harry suggested and reset the whole thing to factory settings. All of the other suggestions were great and I tried them all but to no avail. I now have 5 books and one CD worth of music on there and no problems! I will add things a little at a time and see if anything happens. I never side loaded books, but I did download them all in a very short period of time. Thanks!!

Sometimes a factory reset fixes everything.
