SF Gateway Christmas sale

Although I can find no mention of it on their website, SF Gateway seem to have started their usual Christmas sale. Most of their books at Amazon are reduced to either £1.99 or £2.99 (other than the omnibus editions). Lots of great books included.

At Amazon.de they are either 2.99 € or 3.99 €. And with their growing selection, I am sure I will find more then The Winds of Marble Arch and other Stories by Connie Willis, a collection I wanted to get my hands on for years but couldn't find a copy at a decent price.

They seriously have to redesign their website, I cannot read the blue text on the background image they have.

Try Harry Turtledove publisher=gateway - they all seem to be reduced.

All the Videssos books (9 I think) should use up your Christmas money nicely.

There is also the Bastard King (Sceptre of Mercy) series (3)

The Case of the Toxic Spell Dump

Agent of Byzantium

and The Two Georges: A Novel of an Alternate America

They also have (for non-Americans) pretty much the complete works of Harry Harrison, Gordon R. Dickson, Clifford Simak, and many, many others. A treasure-trove of SF.

I was quite interested in two books by Samuel Delany (who was just named Grand Master, BTW), but they're not available Stateside.

If you've never read The Jewel-Hinged Jaw, I recommend it if you're likely to enjoy a collection of rather scholarly essays on SF.

I'm still looking for e-book editions of works by my late friend, the perilously underrated Thom Disch. Sadly, SF Gateway didn't have anything beyond Disch's contribution to Again, Dangerous Visions.

Amazing find, Harry! Thanks a lot.

This applies to Kobo's store in the UK and Ireland too so you can simply change your country in the my account page and pay with paypal (in Euro or Sterling) for all those not fortunate enough to be resident in these islands.

Just a warning for people who might buy these books from Kobo. Don't. Many of the SF Gateway books do not have spaces after italics. You can check this by downloading a preview. All the affected books have a hyperlink to the Kobo store at the end of the preview whereas those that are unaffected do not have this hyperlink.

So far:

The Sword of the Lictor by Gene Wolfe
The Forever War by Joe Haldeman
Forever Peace by Joe Haldeman
Blood Music by Greg Bear
Floating Worlds by Cecilia Holland
The Glamour by Christopher Priest
The Prestige by Christopher Priest
The Separation by Christopher Priest
The Killing Machine by Jack Vance
The Palace of Love by Jack Vance
The Dying Earth by Jack Vance
Emphyrio by Jack Vance
Araminta Station by Jack Vance
Ecce and the Old Earth by Jack Vance
The Face by Jack Vance
Maske: Thaery by Jack Vance
The Dragon Masters and Other Stories by Jack Vance
The Brave Free Men by Jack Vance
The Asutra by Jack Vance
The Anome by Jack Vance
Norstrilia by Cordwainer Smith

I'll add to this list as I check the previews I've downloaded.

I have few Gateway books bought from Kobo. Not one of them show that problem. Can you give a link to an example that does? And are you talking about an issue in the preview or have you found it in the full book?

This is an issue in the preview and in the full book. I bought The Forever War by Joe Haldeman and it had this issue in preview form and after I bought it. I updated the list of books I've found with this issue.

corroonb: I saw your post in the Kobo forum and had a look at "The Forever War". Yes, it is missing a space after the italics. GeoffR's suggestion in the other thread is probably the one to follow.

That's great news because I would absolutely hate to miss out on such classics as the Forever War, Dying Earth and the Book of the New Sun. I just hope they can fix these issues before the end of this sale.
