Tapatalk ripoff

To be frank the Google Play reviews I read many of them stated they were moved from Pro to free I even read a few were they had been moved from Tapatalk 2 pro to Tapatalk 2 free so basically theres no doubt they simply removed the Tapatalk 2 pro app completely despite a lot of devices not being compatible with the 4 version at all.

I'm frankly going to believe them and I expect in court Tapatalk would lose, in my opinion it's against many consumer acts in different parts of the world and could even be seen as breaking contract law you just don't force your customers onto something they didn't pay for or want.

In my opinion It's the equivalent of Ford selling you a GT then sneaking round in the middle of the night and upgrading you to a fiesta.

That is pretty poor although I admit I've bought an app like that myself although the difference is I could have used either version for phone or tablet, I'm talking about Swiftkey and Swiftkey tablet an excellent android keyboard.

Now while Swiftkey does have two different versions as far as I know both can be used on either type of device the only differences are quite minor but I think swiftkey is such a good app I did buy both versions.

Should there only be one version probably yes but in Swiftkeys case I can forgive them for being up front about it, in tapatalks case it looks like they are more money motivated.

Swiftkey just released a Beta of their upcoming 4.3 version and that harmonizes phones and tablets. I have it running on my devices; you can now have a floating keyboard, which on a large tablet like the Nexus 10 is awesome.

They haven't been dishonest they never bait or switch nor swindled people, regardless of what they are saying. Yes as consumers we want the most for our money and most Android one app work both on phones and tables. But Tapatalk is not also not the only ones that have a product of both platforms. At least they have a product that works on both platform, for me the bigger sin is to have a phone app that scales up and looks underwhelming in tablet mode.

I don't think they where being deceptive about releasing a tablet only version if they released one app that supported both platforms they'd have to support them both. I'm guessing Tapatalk is a small firm that could not handle that kind of load. When I was part of their beta for Tapatalk 4(it was an open beta) they did have several issues on their phone ports. They'd have to have the staff ready to support both versions, that's work.

Tapatalk biggest mistake is confusing people with the remaining of their products.

They have deceived me. Have you actually read the description on the Google play store. Nowhere does it say i will loose my paid for version by upgrading.

Actually it does. And they explain what they have done.

Essentially they had several apps in the market. Tapatalk free, Tapatalk, Tapatalk HD. I don't recall if they had a free HD.

They've removed the free if app and made the paid app free, they further confused people by renaming the HD to Pro.

If you don't believe that's the case let me ask you this have you lost any functionality? Can you do everything you did prior to upgrading?

Speaking for myself, I have no problem in principle for charging for major updates. I bought Office 2007 and then paid again for Office 2010 without a qualm.

The problem here seems to be that people paid for a pro version with certain features and now the system is actively trying to move them to a new version which lacks those features. It's trying to force an "update" people feel is a downgrade on customers who don't want it.
