Burmese red curry with pork... vile stuff. I don't know why we went to a Burmese restaurant; we have NEVER had a tasty meal while IN Burma so I don't know why we'd expect one in a Burmese restaurant!

Some kind of brown soup with stuff floating in it, some kind of spicy salad with cuccumber and tomatoes and peanuts, and a plate of rice with a meat on it. Typical mall food court fare...



Pretty darn tasty for a $1 lunch. Beats the heck out of KFC or MickyD!

It's probably best not to ask... We don't ask what food is until AFTER we eat. There are just waaay too many really strange things eaten on this side of the world. Social convention in the West says it's impolite to spit out something once it's in your mouth. But in Asia, a lot of things are added to dishes that aren't meant to be eaten. They are just there for the flavor and you MUST spit them out rather than try to chew them. Galangal is like a slice of wood, lemongrass is like a stalk of bamboo, Kaffir Lime leaves are like, well, leaves. We won't even talk about all the small bones one finds in a chicken dish. In the West we de-bone, in Asia we just chop 'em up...

No sense wasting all that good meat found on an animals face... blow it off with a high pressure water jet, mix it with some meat from the tail, neck, etc., etc., chop it all up, add some spices, and you have "lunch meat!" If they used better spices and some herbs, it could actually taste good. Certainly better than BBQd rat-on-a-stick.
