Customize job when you connect a device?

When I connect my Android phone to the computer with Calibre on it automatically runs a job to inventory all the content on the device. This takes a long time as it includes the .html help files on the device.

If I could configure this job to only look only on the SD card or to only look for .epub/mobi files this job would run a lot faster.

I looked in
Preferences/advanced/plugins/device interface plugins/Android
metadata search is not checked
html files are not checked

but it's still slow.

Any suggestions on how to point the default job to a specific folder or to only look at some file types?

No idea, but I do know it should be much faster next time around, when it can safely ignore most things as already been indexed.

I've done this multiple times after turning off the metadata search and it has not changed the speed.

Thanks anyway

After you connect and it finishes the scan, right click on the Device icon and configure device.

Yes, Configure Device and do what?
I've tried configuring the plugin but I cannot find any way to configure the job that runs and looks at every file it recognizes on the device.

How do you do that?

Thanks

The job is the driver. And the driver is a "device plugin". When the job runs, it uses the configuration to decide what to do. Configure the device and check that it does what you want at the next connection.

I thought that with an Android device connecting via MTP that once the job HAS ended and the device is still connected that one could configure the device to tell it to skip certain directories on the device.

Quote:
Release: 1.2 [06 Sep, 2013]

New Features

Conversion: Add support for the CSS3 rem font size unit
MTP devices, such as Android tablets/phones: Allow ignoring any folder on the device, not just top level folders. For newly connected devices, also scan /Android/data/com.amazon.kindle for books by default (newer versions of the Kindle app place downloaded files there).
Speed up sorting when the book list is showing a restricted set of books, such as when the results of a search are displayed or a virtual library is used.

Edit metadata dialog: Add an undo option for the Trim cover button.

Did you try to configure the device after you connect by waiting until it finishes the scan, then right-click on the Device icon and select Configure device?

I use Calibre Companion, but the way folks talk doing this the solution is self evident once you select configure device.

I am not saying to configure the driver plugin before connecting, that will not work.

Yes, thank you everyone. Looking in the plugin area is not correct. I did access a new-to-me screen from the Device Icon which does allow configuration.

That changed an 11 minute job to 32 seconds.

Thank you again, job done
