Ditto. I don't have a Windows machine but I am tech support for my mom. I cringe every time she asks for help. Did you have to pay extra to go back to Windows 7?

Just FYI, if anyone goes to buy the new release A Christmas to Remember anthology (Jill Shalvis, Kristen Ashely, etc.) at Kobo it does not have a download option.

ETA: I bought it in the Canadian store. No idea if that makes a difference.

I haven't tried it yet, but for those who don't venture far, in the Kobo thread there's:

Grr! I'll just grab it at ARe or Sony then. Thanks for the heads up.

ETA: FWIW it doesn't show any download options on the old site. I've gotten lazy about checking that, so appreciate you posting the info.

I never check that, and probably should! I do not understand why Kobo removed that from their new site - and I let them know it every time I ask for a refund because of this issue.

Jill Shalvis latest Animal Magnetism book, Rumor Has It, is on sale at Sony for $3.99

and Shannon Stacey's latest Kowalski Family book, Love a Little Sideways, is $2.49

Nalini Singh's Texture of Intimacy is $1.49 (this was originally part of the Wild Invitation anthology)

I think these are part of today's Cyber Week 50% New Release Tuesday sale, so probably good today only.

Although if the reading experience is not significantly sharper than on my Nook HD, it might get returned. Now if the brown truck would just get here!

Well this could be one of the heaviest shipping days of the year for UPS. I know I am expecting a lot from them today and tomorrow.

Wee! He just drove down the road, so we will get ours in a couple minutes!

ETA it's here but I am kind of hoping DH will go lay down before I have to go get the kids, so I can open it in private.

I noticed an interesting UPS phenomenon today. An Amazon package that was supposed to go UPS > USPS for delivery came on the UPS truck with our other UPS packages. Apparently they are doing some sort of "delivery burden management" between them for increased efficiency. I'm certainly not complaining, since the first UPS truck runs way earlier than the USPS mail truck does.

Don't know if this is a widespread thing or not, but if you were tracking a package that was supposed to go from UPS to your post office and didn't, it may be on the UPS truck instead.

Exactly. I wonder why that is? My 8.9 is beautiful, and so, so fast--I was streaming Jane Austin the other day, and I got not one buffer!! I am used to that with Amazon Video, but never before had that experience on my kindle.

I got a new computer with Windows 8, and was not a fan (especially since you cannot find the K4PC books in the Windows 8 app). So I was always using the desktop. It is just like Windows 7. You can even get the control panel to look like Windows 7. When I got the 8.1 update, I could configure my computer to boot directly to my desktop. I use the task bar for my most used programs, and have Windows Explorer as the first shortcut. I honestly don't notice a difference, except I have touch control.

Just stay off the start screen. Great idea if you don't want to get anything done, but otherwise it is a pain. If you are downloading Office, download 2010. I downloaded 2013, because we got it for $10 through work, and there are no colors!!! Outlook is black and white. Very disappointing.

Package delivery is really screwy this year. I got a USPS package on Sunday! And all my Prime purchases are coming next day. My UPS person comes after the post office (about 4 and 4:30, respectively), so I wait longer if it comes UPS--that 30 minutes seems like a day!!! I'm waiting for a 40% off origami kindle cover and a Bluetooth keyboard.
