I apologise if I've lead any members of the thread astray!
I bought one last book in November - a new book by a favourite author in a series I'm enjoying. I actually paid $7.49 and I'm reading it now. And I've also made my first purchase of December - the Baen Monthly Bundle. But I'm going to try to buy no other ebooks in December that aren't at least 75% off retail price. |

pdurrant, that code helped me knock off a lot of my wishlist books. Thanks for mentioning it. Of course, I bought some stuff not on my list.... oh well.

For those who are in (or can be in) the US, I think I have to mention that the Lord Peter Whimsey books by Dorothy L Sayers are currently on offer for $2. Combine this with the current Kobo 50% (or better) discount codes, and you can get the entire series for under $10.
THIS is the kind of offer for which we resist other tempting ebooks and small discount offers. As soon as I've checked which books I already have, I'll be having a short US holiday myself, TBR be damned! (Perhaps I should add that you SHOULD NOT go for this offer if you have never read any of Dorothy L Sayers works. While I like them a lot, you should always be sure that the books you buy are to your own taste, as well as being a bargain.) |

I bought 27 (27!!!) Georgette Heyer books today. They were $1.99 each originally but had a 50% discount. I need to lie down now... Oh my aching TBR!

I think the most important thing is not to buy books that aren't on your wishlist. Don't buy an ebook just because it looks interesting. (Freebies are an exception, of course. Get as many of them as you wish, just don't mix them in with the books you've actually bought.) I've bought 16 books in the pat two days. But they are all books by authors I like and at very good discounts. Some I know I won't read for a year or three, but that's OK, so long as the discount is good enough. And I don't expect to buy many, if any, ebooks for the rest of the month. |

I was all set to stop buying for a while, since I'm reading a paperback that is probably going to take me several weeks, but then another 85% kobo coupon turned up.
It's not costing me a lot, but it's no good for my TBR. |

To many times a freebie causes me to buy lots of books. I got Tall Man in Ray-Bans by Joseph Flynn and it caused me to buy three others in the series.

The other great thing about freebies is that I don't count them for my TBR. |

I've been doing fairly well at not buying anything. It helps that I already have ALL the Heyer's from earlier year's sales. And that I have pBooks of every one of the Dorothy Sayers books. Yes, it would be nice to get them as eBooks, but it's hard to justify right now.

Sadly, yesterday's ebook sale at Amazon really hit my bank account. Not only was I able to get entire mystery series for cheap, but for one series, I could also get all the audiobooks for really, really cheap. Good thing I already had read some of those others. However, I am happy to say that I limited myself to authors already on the wishlist, but it was hard. Very hard.
As far as freebees, I've been taking them out of my cloud library and moving them into Calibre if they are unknown-to-me authors. They really accumulate and yes, they can encourage you to buy more. I try to pick one every month to read - sometimes I have found some great authors this way. Last edited by Tarana; 12-03-2013 at 12:19 PM. |

I'm a big fan of Agatha Christie. I read some of her Poirot mysteries and one standalone novel. I plan to read all of her Poirot books. I just discovered there's a Complete Miss Marple Collection on Amazon for $59.99 and I don't know if I should get it or not. The collection includes all of the thirteen novels plus the short stories. Should I get the whole collection or is it best if I get each book individually?
