BTW, davidfor, I could just wait and see, but I'm curious: Will 3.1 be compatible with Aura 6 inch?

I am sure that 3.1.0 is going to be sent to the Glo, Aura and Aura HD. I'm pretty sure it won't go to the Mini. I'm not sure about the Touch, but I suspect not.

Does anyone know if we can do the changing distributor trick in the Kobo folder in order to get the download faster?

David, do you get any impression that the Mini is being phased out? I noticed Mondadori (Kobo affiliate in Italy) does not sell it any longer - it could be that 5" are not popular, but coupled with the slower pace of firmware updates for the Mini as compared to the other devices, wonder whether the Mini is on the way out...

This is great news. The font size changing at file breaks and the in-margin page numbers have been driving me crazy. Thanks for the heads-up.

What are you on, Volpo?
I synched my Touch last night with the desktop, and was surprised as all get-out that it's been upgraded to 3.01! (I haven't seen any mention of that on these threads, but maybe I just haven't looked in the right places.) I wish we could modify the fonts included in the firmware. A few of them have really annoying kerning issues (like Amasis with any word containing "rr") that are distracting when reading. No doubt they'll be way down any priority list, so I'd be happy to fix them myself ... but the fonts don't exist in separate files, do they? |

The fonts are in seperate files; just not on the user side of the Kobo.
You need to expand the tgz file from the upgrade and look within it. Fonts are in \usr\local\Trolltech\QtEmbedded-4.6.2-arm\lib\fonts Code:
21/11/2013 11:58 256,224 Amasis-Bold.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 308,800 Amasis-BoldItalic.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 312,880 Amasis-Italic.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 248,080 Amasis.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 56,544 Avenir-Bold.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 50,560 Avenir-BoldItalic.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 49,760 Avenir-Italic.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 54,704 Avenir.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 274,560 Caecilia-Bold.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 281,344 Caecilia-BoldItalic.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 284,928 Caecilia-Italic.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 291,632 Caecilia.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 78,864 Dyslexie-Bold.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 81,872 Dyslexie-BoldItalic.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 86,960 Dyslexie-Italic.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 83,360 Dyslexie.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 134,304 georgia.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 137,744 georgiab.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 123,056 georgiai.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 123,504 georgiaz.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 54,288 GillSans-Bold.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 48,336 GillSans-BoldItalic.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 48,304 GillSans-Italic.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 54,272 GillSans.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 6,142,864 Gothic MB101.otf 21/11/2013 11:58 108,176 KoboNickel-Bold.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 100,256 KoboNickel-BoldItalic.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 93,024 KoboNickel-Italic.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 97,824 KoboNickel.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 160,160 Malabar-Bold.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 144,048 Malabar-BoldItalic.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 152,992 Malabar-Italic.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 165,344 Malabar.ttf 21/11/2013 11:58 32,144 OpenDyslexic-Bold.otf 21/11/2013 11:58 56,592 OpenDyslexic-BoldItalic.otf 21/11/2013 11:58 49,632 OpenDyslexic-Italic.otf 21/11/2013 11:58 28,192 OpenDyslexic-Regular.otf 21/11/2013 11:58 9,449,936 Ryumin.otf |

Obfustication does not have to mean the standard ePub approach; we've seen examples of Kobo using other means such as an XOR'ing of data as a means of hiding stuff.
