Kobo Discounts: Coupon Codes + Discussion - Page 318

I got the Pixel of Ink email today (which I get every day) and there was an interesting book on there at a discount. I tried to look at it and it wasn't available to my country. I looked online for all merchants of ebooks and it's just nowhere to be found for Australia, although I can see it's there for other countries. This is such a pain. Discounts are great, when you can actually use them! This book isn't on Kobo Australia, but it is on the US site, I just can't buy it. I'll find it in a physical book instead, but I was hoping to buy it for e-reading.

I don't want to fiddle around with the country settings, it's just frustrating.

Kobo's main page shows their gift cards - Give the gift of Kobo - and a Buy Now button. It takes you to a page that tells you that you can use those gift cards to buy stuff. But you can't actually buy the gift cards online from them. They really aren't very clever the way they put their site together.

That's because the gift cards used to be available that way but Kobo removed them. Though why did this section remained in the new web site is a mystery

I always ask whenever I have to do a chat about other issues and am told they do plan to bring the direct from site buying option back. Of course, they've been saying that for many months now so who knows if it will really happen or not.

You're right Library addict and I believe everyone is eagerly awaiting the return of the gift cards/gift-a-book option. But somehow I forgot about that

I have a Norfolk Island Kobo account. I've noticed in the last day or so I can no longer view the U.S. version of a book--previously I could see both the U.S. and international versions of many books and just choose the cheaper one (plus use a coupon on any book).

Used the 95comic code, and great got my discount, but has anyone else had the problem where the book shows as being available for ereader on the info, but no download link in My Library, but it does download on the Desktop app... Very frustrating as I don't actually own a Kobo!

Yes, you'll find a few posts about it a page or two back. It likely that the book you bought is a kePub only book.

It seems when Kobo says "eReader" what they really mean in a few cases is "Kobo brand eReader".

Thanks for that AnemicOak, looks like I'll have to investigate liberating it somehow. Here comes a few google search sessions!

Even more frustrating was I got a few of the follow up books and they're tablet only, I made the silly error of assuming as the first book was ereader compatible that the rest would be... very annoying I can't even read them on my desktop computer either!

Given Norfolk Island only has a population of around 2500, I always thought it very odd Kobo treats it as a large country and gives it restrictions or allowances different from Australia. I wonder if anyone at Kobo has ever wondered about the proportionally high number of Kobo readers from there..lol
