Kindle 3 (Keyboard) "Go To" function

My K3 seems to have lost the use of its "go to" page/location function.

When I select "go to" it becomes impossible to enter any numerals: pressing the "SYM" key has no effect, and neither does "ALT" + a letter in the top row. I've also tried using the space bar and then entering numbers. Again, no luck. I should add that mine has been jailbroken - perhaps it's a side-effect? But I would be most interested to hear if anyone else has the same fault. And even more interested to hear of a solution, of course. It's running version 3.4, for what it's worth. Have you tried a reset?

If not, try one. That often fixes weird glitches. If not, you may need to un-jailbreak it, and see if that helps. |

I'm reluctant to unjailbreak it, as my technical skills are not very high. I don't believe I had this problem until recently, and it's been jailbroke for quite a long time. Perhaps the 3.4 upgrade did it? |

How do you do a Re-Set? I can turn it Off/On but it just stays the same.

Maybe try posting your problem in the kindle development sub-section and I'm sure an experienced kindle hacker can talk you through how to do this. |

Hold the Kindle Keyboard on switch to the right for 15-20 seconds, then let go. Wait another 15 seconds or so, and it will reboot.

You don't have to reboot as often as with Windows, but if you go back and forth between books and personal documents a lot, I would do it maybe once every week or two. Sometimes it may do it on its own. |

According to Amazon [here] Its a 15 second slide switch hold for Reset. If you count for 20 seconds (say: "one elephant, two elephants ... twenty elephants") it should reset firs time. Incidentally Off mode is a hold of 4 to 15 seconds, so if you want Off mode, count 8 seconds if you have Voice Guide off. If you have the guide on, it will tell you "Screensaver" for a brief slide or "Turning Off" for a four second hold and you can release it then to turn off. Ignore that and carry on holding for reset.
