Kobo Discounts: Coupon Codes + Discussion - Page 315

The book I bought is viewable on my iPad Kobo app and the desktop app. I want to put it on my Kobo but I'm not syncing that anymore, preferring to use Calibre to keep track of my books. I'll have to investigate whether I can get it onto there or not without syncing.

You can. It's actually a lot easier since it does appear on your desktop app. I believe it is lynx lynx who put the links to guides and hints on how to do it (remember, though we can talk about removing DRM here, we can't talk about the specifics nor link to them).

Yes, I thought about it and realised it wasn't too difficult. I'm happy I've got the book at a cheaper price. I'll work out the specifics later. I'm still on a different book right now and have a few queued up in my mind that I want to read, so it's not urgent.

Dagnabbit. You guys know how the page blocks you after making x amount of purchases? Well, it turns out it's not card dependent. It also happens when you use the egift cards

That's odd. Back when the magic coupon worked I got a Chapters Gift card as they kept cutting off my credit card. I bought a lot of books and never had my gift card rejected. Whereas it happens without fail if I buy 10 books on my credit card.

Same here. I've been using my card with no issues; bought a second one this past week.

The gift card worked for 8 books using the 95comic code and now I am getting the same error message I used to get with my debit card. I got it last night after buying ten books then again after buying ten this morning using my debit card. Got it working after buying a gift card in the afternoon and buying eight books. Oh well, c'est la vie.

But I have to say,it does get frustrating. Though I guess it wouldn't be so frustrating under normal circumstances as at normal pricess I am unlikely to buy more than ten books in one day.

You were able to use the 95comic code more than once?

Worked only once for me.

Yeah, there's a trick to it. And I used it on all the purchases I mentioned on my post. But once it doesn't work, it doesn't work. I think the same trick can be applied to all codes. I used the 80Nvbr 4 times, once on the old page, thrice on the new.

I have used the 95comic and 80Nvbr several times each. All you have to do is create a new Kobo account each time. It only takes 30 seconds. I just make up an email address, usually based on the title of the book I'm buying so if I ever want to go back into that account to download it again, I will remember how to. Not that I think I ever will need to. Kobo doesnt require any email confirmation at any stage so it doesnt matter if its a fake email address.
Once I've bought the book I download it to my desktop and open it in ADE, and then I import the book into Calibre. From there it goes onto my Nook or my daughters Kindle or off to a friend etc, and a copy is saved on an SD card.
My only problem now is I have run out of books to buy!

The downside to this is if it turns out to be unavailable to download in epub or ADE drm epub. I prefer to use one account when possible, two at the most.

This is true, which is why I only do it with the higher coupon codes. I figure I have saved so much on the times it works, that if I lose a few dollars one time its no big deal.
Ironically, the only time I have have bought one of those impossible to download books was when I was signed into my main, legitimate account. Not that it made much difference as the book wouldnt download on the desktop app, my android app or the Kobo itself. There simply isnt anyway at all to download it. Luckily it only cost around $3 so more of an annoyance than great financial loss. And I now know to check every book first by downloading a sample before buying.
