Wonder how long I will last
But WHY?! I usually last a week, sometimes even all seven days of it!

And confession - I totally thought US Thanksgiving was THIS weekend and was bummed I'd be missing out on any deals as we're moving Saturday. At least we should definitely have internet hooked up again by next weekend! Now to decide if I should take advantage of Chapter's $20 off any Kobo coupon (annual eReader birthday replacement), or if there might be a better deal next weekend... decisions, decisions!

You do realize Christmas is the best time to buy books as there is always the biggest sales of the year during that time.

I am sometimes surprised at the age of things I thought were relatively new and weren't, so I took at look at the Online Etymology Dictionary:
  • duffle: 1670s, from Dutch duffel, from Duffel, town in Brabant where the cloth was originally sold. Duffel bag is American English, first recorded 1917 in a letter of e e cummings.
  • casserole: 1706, "stew pan," from French casserole "sauce pan" (16c.), diminutive of Middle French casse "pan" (14c.), from Provençal cassa "melting pan," from Medieval Latin cattia "pan, vessel," possibly from Greek kyathion, diminutive of kyathos "cup for the wine bowl." Originally the pan, since c.1930 also of the dishes cooked in it, via cookery phrases such as en casserole, à la casserole.
  • beef noodle bake: I didn't have any luck with this one

So it looks like while there were aspects of the phrases, it may not be the exact usage in the timeframe of your story.

Thanks for the history lesson. If only Indie authors did the same research!

Here Blossom: The Christmas Bride by Sylvia McDaniel

Author does not specify an exact time but it reads as a cross between contemporary romance and historical romance. I give it 1 star.

As for not buying any books I may last until Saturday

That's what a team of editors are for to catch such mistakes. This seems to be a self published novel not one of her backlist though it is part of a series originally published by Zebra but the novella is a new not a backlist title.

Sweet Magik

Both of them are cute, lighthearted Xmas stories - who knew the sons of Santa Claus could be so hot?

I follow Penny's blog (she's very funny), and here's the "advisory" she posted about these stories:

THE KLAUS BROTHERS SERIES contains scenes with elves, x-treme Christmas spirit, Santa Claus, the North Pole, sex-in-a-sleigh, magic, old-fashioned romance, and very sweet scenarios. It requires a willing suspension of disbelief, a love of beards, and is enhanced by the addition of a gingerbread latte.

A couple of free books this AM:

Hiding Hollywood by Ainslie Paton

Alluring Turmoil by Skye Turner

And a couple of bargains:

Truly, Madly, Deeply A Carly Philips Collection - three books for $0.99

Kingdom Collection, books 1-3 by Marie Hall for $0.99. I have the first novella - Her Mad Hatter, which is currently free, but of course, I haven't read it. May have to bump that up on the TBR. These are "fractured fairytales", which is a PNR sub genre that I tend to really like if it's done well.
