Which is why I decided to get the Mini Retina and considering I never had any Apple device before which makes it my first Apple product ever, I believe that speaks books about how nice a piece of hardware the Mini Retina is.
It gets to the point that after having spent a couple days fumbling with my Ipad and after that going back to my Kobo reader, it feels so dull, so black and white, so static in page turns and animations that I am not sure I can go on reading full books on my e-reader anymore and so, henceforward I will probably read on my Ipad only. |

Yeah... I also ended up giving away all my Kindle e-ink devices... although their screens are undoubtedly better suited for daytime-reading, the handling of e-books (particularly if you annotate a lot) is so unwieldy on e-ink devices that there was no holding me back on e-ink any longer.

The Annotations plugin supports GoodReader and Marvin. Marvin XD includes the Marvin annotations support from the Annotations plugin. Additionally, Marvin offers several other alternatives to export Annotations and Highlights. G Last edited by GRiker; 11-18-2013 at 03:54 PM. |

I still have a dedicated reader (kobo aura) for serious reading I still use that and will continue to, I spend too much time looking at LCD/led screens so I just prefer e-ink, the battery life is better too. The only issue really is taking an extra device when I travel but I can live with that.

Yes. You missed that almost exactly a year ago today, Marvin was released for the first time, allowing you to export your highlights and annotations from e-books with a single touch of a button, in standard HTML and XLS (spreadsheet) formats, or also in Marvin's internal MRV format, allowing you to back up your annotations and later restore them on any other device running Marvin, share them with other Marvin users, etc. It's exactly Marvin's annotations functionality that gave me the last push and made me abandon the Kindle platform. No plugins are necessary; annotations export is part of Marvin's default functionality. |

Thanks, Faterson. Marvin now resides on my iPad, and I'll be putting him to the test.

Important to consider when deciding between iPad Air or iPad mini Retina (from another thread):

Here's the final comment, same review: Quote:
In my opinion, that review is too technical. It touches interesting topics but most of them are irrelevant for the regular "John Doe" that just want to browse Internet or play some games. |

The point I think is, how can it be justified to sell at a premium what is a substandard screen? When you charge twice what others charge, it is no longer irrelevant to offer a poorer experience.

![]() Still you have not answered my question, which I think I made on a different thread. Do you currently own a Retina Mini and iPad air? Apple products are expensive, no question about it. But the people keep buying them because the overall experience and hardware support. But we are not discussing about prices here and I won't engage on something that is well known dead-horse, like Apple prices and why they are expensive, etc. What I am trying to say is that in general terms , regardless of what you may consider a sub product (subjective statement, I would day), the device has a good performance and most people are satisfied with it.
