Copy data from one column to another

I made a mistake by setting up a column with an html type format, so the data displays (for example) in Book Covers with the formatting - (eg) <p>Complete</p>

I have now set up the column correctly (basically just plain text) and was hoping there was a way to copy the data from the old column to the new one.

Unless there is a better way to do this.

You can (Not tested!) edit metadata in bulk and use search and replace with a regular expression to copy the data.

For instance search for html tags and copy what is between them.

For example:
Search the html field for: <p>(.*)</p>
And replace the text field with: \1

You can copy from one column to another with bulk edit search and replace. You must use regular expression mode to see the choice of separate source and destination columns

Thanks for responding. It took a little while to figure out how to enable regular expressions but once I found it, your advice worked.

Thank you both.
