Sorry to reply to my own post, but I found this on the ST FAQ:

Warranties are available for purchase through select retail partners in Canada.

They don't say which retail partners, though TigerDirect.ca is one (google result). Unfortunately they only sell Arc, Glo, Touch, and Mini.

WarrantyLife seems promising (US/Canada) though their offering in Canada is pretty poor compared to US, from what I can see. I wrote to ask what it actually covers, since it doesn't say. With Port Moody BC and Bellingham WA addresses, I wonder if they're Canadian.

Don't forget that many credit cards these days have the benefit of doubling the manufacturers warranty up to an additional year.

True, though I was thinking that ST (in the US anyway) offers coverage for dropping the unit. Costco Canada's ExcellencePlus add-on (to items bought at Costco) does too, for notebooks and tablets (not for desktop computers). They call it ADH (Accidental Damage from Handling).

i have a Costco Amex which can be used to buy stuff oustide of Costco as well

It offers accidental damage protection as well for anything purchased with it.

I didn't think of accidental coverage from Amex. Will have to check my card.
