Waiting... and waiting.... and waiting.... for Calibre to finish importing. I've been exporting batches of books from my way too slow and unwieldy big library (28,000+ books), and importing them into a smaller and more manageable one. 689 books before I started the latest import, and....... now..... 2,331.

Now to spend the next couple weeks or so adding meta-data and covers, and a custom year field (year first published -- more useful than the meta-data published date).

Just back from PetCo - where I acquired some new toys to encourage our oldest cat Sammy to get off her fat butt and play

.... and discovered an end cap of holiday costumes for your cat ... and spent several blissful moments fantasizing the expressions on her face as I mentally dressed her in each outfit: Santa, Frosty the snowman (with top hat), reindeer antlers, lumberjack hat, green elf suit, and assorted holiday bow ties .... I was dragged away shouting "They're only $10 each! It would be worth it to get just 1 photo!"

Sigh ..... gotta sneak back alone and grab one,..., or two...

Good news - all 3 cats love the new 'feather on a fish pole' toy ... and played nicely together ....

Wondering why Amazon thinks I'm interested in Katy Perry's latest album. As far as I can remember I've only bought some of Ligabue's albums years ago from them, no other music. His music, Italian rock, is not something I would associate with Katie Perry's music.

Some years ago, in a PetCo in Miami to pick up some toys, I was captivated watch an open tray of baby parakeets playing. I always like parakeets as pets, but my wife is allergic to them. I get my craving satiated by watching them in pet shops instead. So there I was, standing for several minutes enjoying the budgies when the young sales clerk came over and asked if she could help me find something. I replied; "Yes, I looking for some really fun toys for my cat." The clerk let out a small yelp of 'Oh my God!' when I realized I was staring at the baby birds when I said that...

If you really want to get them motivated, get a hamster and a Habitat Ball, the sort that you can put the hamster into and let roll around on the floor. The hamster doesn't get frightened (despite my original way of thinking) as it has no point of reference that cats might be a threat. The hamster will often roll towards the cats to investigate. Usually scares the cats! You can find several Youtube vids of this.
