Moving library, database corrupted

I am trying to move my Calibre Library from my desktop (Windows 8) to my Laptop (Windows 8.1) but I keep getting an error message on my laptop saying the database is corrupted. I ran library maintenance and restored my database on the desktop even though it said it was fine and yet when I go to move it it still says corrupted. I have tried having Calibre fix it (laptop) and it always tells me that it failed. When I click on details it give me some Tracebacks (6 in the db and one in the build) and one says ReadOnlyError: ReadOnlyError: attempt to write a readonly database. Any solutions?

How did you move it, via copying it to a cd first?

After you copy a fresh database to your laptop you might want to change the attribute (on the entire library) so it isn't read only.

No, I followed the directions on the website. Toolbar, switch/create library. I have no idea how or why it's saying it's read only. I am trying to change it over a home network, no cables. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. I don't want to lose all my metadata or I would just load it onto a usb and do it.

Create/switch instructions are only for moving on the same PC (or local attached drive) and not for Network drive use.

The Library did not magically appear on the laptop. So HOW did it get there???

There is no library on my laptop, that's what I am trying to do. Move the library from my desktop to my laptop. When I try to move it my laptop tells me that the database is corrupted and would I like Calibre to try to rebuild it. I rebuilt it on the desktop even though it found no errors and my laptop still says the database is corrupted.

Just copy the ENTIRE desktop Library folder over (replace the Laptop Library folder).

Start Calibre. that should do it. (At least this Works for XP->W7. It sora works to Linux )

If you load it onto a USB you DO NOT lose all your data.

Either copy the whole library FOLDER onto the USB and transfer to the other computer, or use Ctrl+A (select all) and Save to Disk.

Then open calibre in the other computer, and select Add Books dropdown, option 2. See attachment.

The select all method requires you to rebuild the Library. ( your image is correct for that)

The folder method (includes metadata.db) IS the Library. Intact, ready to go

Why not do the copy over a Network Share?

Just be sure that Calibre (and any cloud shadow services) are not running

Workaround

Error ReadOnlyError
Error Message:
calibre "calibre, version 1.14.0 Corrupted database: The library database at K:\path... appears to be corrupted.
...
ReadOnlyError: ReadOnlyError: attempt to write a readonly database"

Message appears when library is created on external USB disk with one system and then pluged to other system with WINDOWS 7.

WORKAROUND
Open 'Properties' of the folder with the library using Windows Expoler.
Select Security tab and 'Edit' button. Add 'Everyone' to the Group of users; in Permissions list check "Full control".
