				Conversion and Temp folder issues

Everytime I start up my computer, I have to create a new Temp folder in Local Settings otherwise Calibre doesn't launch. When it does happen to launch and I try to convert Epub to Mobi i get the following error:

Set the environment variable for the TEMP dir described here

http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/cust...ment-variables And disable your antivirus. |

Thanks, my temp folder issues have now ceased. I'm still having conversion issues though. I used to be able to convert my epub files to mobi in one big batch, but now it produces an error even if i try one book at a time. It seems to be hit or miss whether it converts or not (with the "unhandled exception error" issue)

That error indicates something is deleting the finished file from under calibre, which is why I suggested disabling your antivirus.

I strongly suspect that you would eliminate most or all of your problems you mention if you reinstall your OS from scratch. In other words I don't think there is any problem with calibre, but with your computer and OS.

I've taken you're advice Adoby. It seems like a lot of hard work to reinstall and re-format my hard-drive losing huge amounts of data in the process, just to access calibre. But I love to read, so it's worth it. Problem solved ; )

Good for you! I typically reinstall my OS from scratch twice a year, when a new version of Ubuntu is released.

The next step for you seems to be a good system for backups, so you don't loose any data when you reinstall the operating system...
