Quick question about Nexus7.2 and mantano. Does the N7.2 have buttons [of any kind] and can Mantano be configured to use them as page turn buttons?

Before going, make sure they have it in stock. Several tablets have already sold out online. Consider an online order too. Also, keep in mind that the Big 3 office stores (OD, OM, Staples) generally price match with each other. No guarantee though. I got my N7.2 through a price match. YMMV

One other thing, I'm generally not here on the weekends. You just happened to catch me. It's very hit and miss for me.

Two buttons on the right side. Small upper power button and a larger volume rocker below it.

No idea on the reading apps. I don't use them, because I hate reading on LCD devices. I do the vast majority of my reading on eink (Kindle 4S).

It's really nice tablet it's small and light like the HDX the HDX may seem to have a better screen but for reading at least the one I have I can't read on it so that's why I am thinking of giving the HDX to hubby and get a Nexus. I could return the HDX but I think it would be just more hassle.

I am seriously thinking of downgrading the HDX to a HD which does not use Blue LEDS I would lose ppi but it sitll would be better than my KFv1 which I read on all the time. As you said Decisions, Decisions.

By default Mantano has the volume rocker set for page turns but it's fully configurable. That's likely the case for some of the other reader apps as well.

Depending on what kind of cover you put on the device the rocker button may not be so easy to use. I use the Poetic Slimline case which I'm very happy with but the case makes it harder to use the button.

Edit: Both Aldiko & Moon+ can also use the volume rocker for page turns.

That's my case too for the HDX which is going back so I'll have two cases with no device but I've been on hold now for over an hour. I think Kindle Support forgot about me!

Okay I just got off the phone and the HDX is going back so now should I get a Neuxs 7.2 or go with a Kindle Fire HD 16GB?

Seriously, I would go for the Nexus 7.2. It is better than the Fire. And, call me shallow, but I really like being able to change the wallpaper from black.

Or if you want to spend less, the Nook HD. (It has the card slot).

I think sending the HDX back was the right choice. It was obviously defective.

If you can afford to, get the 32gb Nexus. Although 16gb is probably fine.

I agree. Spec and Pricewise the Nexus & HDX are about equal but for anyone who is the least bit tech savvy the Nexus is the way to go. No reason to lock yourself into Amazon's ecosystem.

Thanks tons for the warning and practical advice. I don't know why I thought Staples had an inexhaustible supply of the N7 2013, but I was able to find a local store just in time.

Yeah I plan to order it as soon I figure out which one is which.
