Best way to read e-Books?

Hey guys, so I've got a Sony E-Reader PRS-T2 and I love it. I've got Evernote setup on it so I can now upload the quotes I wish to keep and upload it to Evernote. It took me a long time, but I go through my solution in detail here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=225769

Now that I've got my PRS-T2 setup the way I want it, I want to know the best way for my brain to take in new information. I really want to start reading a lot of the E-Books I've been collecting. I thought this forum would be the best place to ask for help in this matter.

So, I just want to know how you set yourself up for your reading sessions. How do you get in the mood to read for long periods? Do you read in bed or do you read outside? Do you drink tea or eat toast while you read? Do you read when you wake up or before you fall asleep? How do you prime your brain for a lengthy reading session?

I'd really appreciate any help.
Thank you!

Basically, I read when I want to read.
As soon as turning the page becomes a chore, or my mind starts to wander away from what I'm reading, I stop and find something else to do.

I read in bed primarily, but on the balcony with a nice glass of wine, on the bus, while waiting for appointments. I have friends who read in the bath. Echhh! Shriveled skin time, but they like it. I often have a book going on my computer as well, just for when my head needs a break.

Generally I read an hour or two at a time, occasionally more and often less.

For me setting up a reading situation would defeat the purpose. If I told myself I had to read, then I would rebel and go do something else instead . Self discipline is not my strongest suite.

Forgive me for saying this, but this strikes me as a somewhat odd question. How do you normally read books? An ebook is no different to a paper book in that regard. Reading is reading.

I was going to make much the same comment.

I read like I've always read. One page at a time. Ebooks have allowed me to read more, because the opportunities to do so come up more often.

Does not compute.
I'm never out of the mood to read for long periods, but life gets in the way. "Setting my self up to read" never involves anything other than finding myself currently untasked.

I start with page one and stop after I finish the last page. Then I pick the next book and start again. I have never found myself not in the mood to read. I may not be able to read because of interference from things like work, but I always want to read.

Have your books with you, so that it's an easy entertainment option when you feel bored, and if you want to have a long reading session just do whatever you do with a paper book. An eink device is really very similar to a paper book, it's tablets and LCD screens that need slightly different setups.

I read on whatever machine I want depending on where I am. When I'm out I read on my Samsung Note 2. At home I'll read either on my pc, T1, or my Nexus 7.

You are over thinking this, just sit down and read!

Reading isn't work or something otherwise tiresome or exhausting for me for what I'd might have to prepare or get in the mood for. It's my most valued free time activity. Freely stealing from a song:

Books have been my first love and they will be my last;
be they about future or be about times passed.
To live on without reading - don't know how I could do;
`cause in this world of morons it's books what pulls me trough.

Regardless...
When I'm settling down for a readathon I will queue up a nice long string of my favorite instrumentals, pop a jar full of gummi peach rings or a tube of potato chips beside me and stretch out on the sofa.
"Do not disturb" is implied.

Yes.

Yes.

I used to say the only things I don't do while reading are sleep, shower, and sex. That's no longer true; a ziplock fixes 1/3 of my former limitations. (I suppose combining reading and sex is possible, but it seems it wouldn't be giving fair attention to either. I'm working on how to read in my sleep.)

Before anyone asks... I don't drive.

Yes. Often both. It's time to stop reading when the ereader has slipped out of my fingers more than twice.

I tell everyone else in the family that I'm doing Important Work and am not to be disturbed, and sort through my TBR list for something that's more than 100,000 words long.

I do not bother to turn on music or the TV when I read. I would not hear or see it at all. When I read I am oblivious to everything around me.
