I had two Paperwhites and one Touch and one Fire 1st gen, all Kindles. I first gave the Fire, I don't want to play Angry Birds, and that's what a 7' tablet does. I then gave the Paperwhite. Nobody wants e-readers in Brazil, so the Touch it's in my bathroom for occasional use. I mainly use the Paperwhite.

I don't think having too many eReaders is a problem. They all do things differently enough that it's okay to have two or more of them.
It's when you have like a few computers, tablets, phones, and MP3 players that there's a problem. I've at any given time only had one working iPod, one working tablet, one working phone, and one working eReader. I have my laptop, and then an old iMac G4 that my dad brought home from school. My dad has my old Kindle Fire since I have the iPad Mini. That's really the only device I have ever passed down because I use things until they break. |

I thought I might have too many ereaders, but I read from them all so I guess I'm covered:
In order of purchase: -kindle keyboard, still works great, use it poolside -kindle pw1. all purpose reader, when I am waiting for the movie to start or the wife to finish grocery shopping. -kobo glo - all purpose reader, take it with me to the bank, to swim meets when I am watching my kid. -Kobo mini - emergency reader, keep this one in the car, along with a kandle reading light. -kobo aura. at home reader, one of my top two devices.. Love this one. -kindle pw2 - my other fav at home reader.. What I don't use as a reader anymore: Samsung 10" tablet and my Kindle fire.. I prefer an ereader. I think I've reached a good saturation ereader point.. Not saying I won't buy another one but it is going to take something exceptional to get my wallet out.. |

It's really easy to pick. What are your 'go to' devices. What are the 2 or 3 that you use most often. Those are your best choices. Sell the others while they still have value or give to a family member.
Otherwise, I suggest keeping 3 because I don't consider your phone a reading device. Sure, it works in 20 min. slots when you are away from home, but it is hard on the eyes. I recommend keeping the Nook as well as the PW2. The PW2 is a NICE reading device. The Nook has some great apps including audiobook (see Smart Audiobook). It is also a larger size for reading pdfs and much easier to cook from. Honestly, I'd also keep the Ipad mini since it is 4G unless you don't do any surfing away from home. Kindle Touch Kindle PW1 3G Kindle PW2 wifi <--- keep this Nook 7 inches HD <--keep this iPad mini 4G 1st gen. iPad Air wifi <- keep this I am just as bad, but my collection includes many audiobooks too. As a result, I have a bunch of listening devices as well. However, all of these get used regularly, one shuffle gets used for mood music, while the other is lent out to family members to listen to audiobooks. Kindle Keyboard <--stays at home Kindle NT - <---goes with me Nook ST <---My primary ereader Nook HD+ <-- use in poor lighting situation, but also use for audiobooks Itouch 4g <--use all the time, but now leave at home Ipod Nano - 4 gen, 6th gen, 7th gen Ipod Shuffle - two models, don't know gen- latest and one before. I use things until they break. In fact, I only recently got rid of my Mac 6200 CD (from 1993 or 1994) because it broke. I haven't been able to access the internet with it since 1999 or so, but it was regularly used for games and such. Last edited by Tarana; 11-12-2013 at 02:13 PM. |

I currently have a Nook HD+, a Kobo Glo, a Kindle 3G, and a laptop. That's all the devices I own, and my wife and I share them. Besides our own cell phones, of course (Nexus 4 and Xperia E Dual). Let me be the last to judge anyone else's gadget buying habits, but I find that it just encourages materialism for me to have more and more stuff (especially multiple devices that do the exact same thing), and really doesn't enhance my life at all. I just have two. I use my Kindle 4 for reading books, and my Nook HD+ for magazine reading and internet. |

I own two devices. At least I think I do. I haven't laid eyes on one of them in months. It could have run away to join the circus by now for all I know. It was threatening to do just that last time we spoke. *shrug*

I have three, but only two work. The Sony 505 is in the electronic junk box, and the T-1 has been sold.
I'm good. |

I own three devices. One for daily use, one for on the road use and one for hammock use. The last one doesn't see a lot of use though....

First e-reader was a Kindle 3, which I gave to a family member. Next was a KDX, which I sold recently. I'm tempted to replace the Glowlight with a new Paperwhite, but don't use it enough to justify that. The Nook HD+ is probably my favorite device I've ever owned. |

I read on nearly all of my devices (and on a couple of not-bought-for-reading devices as well), so I think I have just enough.
The only one I don't read is the one with the dead battery -- my PRS-505 -- and the only reason it is still not charged is because its content needed to be updated and I don't want to do that. I really like just getting my books out of the air instead of having manage them at my computer. Current books: * Lord of the Rings (NOOK HD+, Kobo app) * The Call of Zulina (iPhone, Kindle app) * River in the Sky (iPad, Sony app; would be PRS-505 if it was charged) * Sense and Sensibility (T1, downloaded from MobileRead) I alternate books between my Kindle and my T1; that is, when I've finished a book on the T1, I read a book on the Kindle. The NOOK HD+ was supposed to be used as an Android tablet, bought after B&N allowed the Play store on it, but so far I have read one NOOK book and downloaded the Kobo app so that I could read LOTR. I could read all of those books on my iPad -- which I never intended to use for reading; I bought it for sharing photos and watching videos -- in the appropriate apps, but I guess I'm old-fashioned where I like for each book I am reading to be physically distinguishable from any other book that I am reading. I don't want to be going between multiple books on a single device. ![]() |

Just as an aside, one of those P-Touch Label Makers is a very useful thing for someone with a lot of electronic devices and all of their accompanying connection cords and plugs. I put a label on both the cords and the converter blocks, so I can always find which one I need.
